#2 Michael Jackson - Thriller (Official 4K Video)

“It's as much fun to scare as to be scared.”

~Vincent Price

Lordy I loved being a young adult in the 1980's. I was 20 when Thriller was released in 1982. I loved it! Of course I did, it blended two of my favorite things, music and spooky stuff! And who didn't run straight to MTV in their spare time. Oh my, looking back it was all kinda simple, but oh my, we sure had fun!

ENJOY!

Thriller
By Michael Jackson

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurkin' in the dark
Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart
You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes,
You're paralyzed

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about to strike
You know it's thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight
Yeah
Ooh

You hear the door slam and realize there's nowhere left to run
You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun
You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, girl
But all the while you hear a creature creepin' up behind
You're outta time

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
There ain't no second chance against the thing with the forty eyes, girl
Thriller, ooh, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight

Night creatures call
And the dead start to walk in their masquerade
There's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time (they're open wide)
This is the end of your life, ooh

They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side (ooh)
They will possess you unless you change that number on your dial
Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah
All through the night I'll save you from the terror on the screen,
I'll make you see

That this is thriller, thriller night
'Cause I can thrill you more than any ghoul could ever dare try
Thriller, ooh, thriller night
So let me hold you tight and share a killer, thriller, chiller
Thriller here tonight

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night
Girl, I can thrill you more than any ghoul could ever dare try
Thriller, ooh, thriller night
So let me hold you tight and share a killer, thriller (ow)

I'm gonna thrill you tonight

[Vincent Price:]
Darkness falls across the land
The midnight hour is close at hand
Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize y'all's neighborhood
(I'm gonna thrill you tonight)
And whomsoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpse's shell

[Michael Jackson:]
I'm gonna thrill you tonight...

Thriller, ooh, babe (Thriller)
I'm gonna thrill you tonight (Thriller night)
Thriller, oh, darling (Oh, baby)
I'm gonna thrill you tonight (Thriller)
Ooh, babe (Thriller night)
I'm gonna thrill you tonight (Thriller)
Oh, darling (Oh, baby)
Thriller night, babe (Thriller night, babe)
Ooh

[Vincent Price:]
The foulest stench is in the air
The funk of forty thousand years
(Thriller night, thriller)
And grisly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
(I'm gonna thrill you tonight)
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #30

~Mehmet Murat ildan

A Walk In Nature

“When the autumn meets the tranquillity,
there you can see the King of the Sceneries!”

~Mehmet Murat ildan

It's been quite a week, and I imagine the hits will keep on coming, but that's okay, I have my friends to keep me company. There is nothing like a walk in nature to clear all the head noise. I love their beautiful sound. It makes me very happy. Autumn is now one month old, so we are a third of the way through my favorite season. It's going by way too fast. I wish it could slow down a bit. The video below is one I found on YouTube, but I think I will be doing one of my own soon. I enjoyed doing the video of the bats over the summer. Maybe I will do that on Family day... or Family day, observed. There is plenty of time.

#1 The Stand, By Stephen King (1994)

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang, but a whimper.

~T. S. Eliot
The Hollow Men

There are 10 days left until Halloween 2023, my favorite holiday, so hopefully every day until then I will be able to post something fun, in addition to my usual musings and Autumn leaves. First up, one of my absolute favorite horror stories of all time, Stephen King's, The Stand. If you have never seen this movie, or even this version of the movie, be sure to watch it. It's a long endeavor, around 5 hours total. It had to be 5 hours long, the book was about 800 pages or so. There was a recent remake that, in my opinion, didn't quite do it. But that's just me. It's Stephen King, therefore there is a lesson for everyone, and for all time.

Pop some corn, sit back, and enjoy the film.

Be sure to visit tomorrow to see what scares I have planned next!

Three Stikes... YOU"RE OUT!

“It's always to soon to quit!”
~Norman Vincent Peale

Things got even worse for Jim Jordan's chances of being house speaker earlier today, as he lost his third run for it and was cut loose, by secret ballot, by his own party. He decided later in the day to not try running for the seat again. LOL. Do you trust him to keep his word? Everyone went home for the weekend, so we will see what happens next week. Honestly, I have been rolling my eyeballs so much lately, that  sometimes it feels like my they are going to roll right out of my head.

A Bit Of Hope...

“Every single one of them should be released.”

~Secretary Of State
 Antony Blinkin
October 20th 2023

Two American hostages have been released by Hamas. Finally, we have some hope, perhaps guardedly, that he will see more released in the coming hours and days.

3 Down 16 To Go

“Hypocrite: The man who murdered his parents,
and then pleaded for mercy on the grounds that he was an orphan.”

~Abraham Lincoln

Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis

And Chesebro makes 3. Whose next? Jenna Ellis? Rudy Giuliani? Mark Meadows? Personally, I think it will be Jenna Ellis. She has already been complaining about Trump not assisting her with legal bills. But Rudy Giuliani is also facing financial woes from a divorce, and various lawsuits and criminal charges, pleading out might an attractive prospect. And again, has complained Trump has done nothing to help out with the financial pain. I am sensing a pattern here. Trump has always thrown his inner circles under the bus. If I can see it, why can't these people see it too? How he ever got anyone to support him is baffling to me. I guess it's just how cults work.

Commit no other crimes
3-5 years probation.
He must write a letter of apology to the people of Georgia
Serve community service
Pay restitution of $5,000

And most importantly of all...

He must "testify truthfully" when asked to do so.

Failure To Delete

Donald John Trump

He did it again. He was told to take down a series of posts on on social media, and beyond, harassing a court clerk of Judge Engoran, who is presiding over the New York civil fraud trial. He didn't. The offending  post remained on his campaign website... for the last 17 days. Sigh.
More to come, but, I really don't see him getting to New Year's Eve without serving some sort of jail time. He can't keep his mouth shut, or follow simple directions. He just can't.

And fucking unhinged is this?

Update...

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #29

“When the time has come, every leaf turns to face the sun!”
~Akilnathan Logeswaran

Say's Phoebe

“Autumn that year painted the countryside in vivid shades of scarlet, saffron and russet, and the days were clear and crisp under harvest skies.”

~Sharon Kay Penman,

The Say's phoebe is one of the most beautiful of the perching birds. I saw my first one, for the first time, just two years ago! Can you believe it? Why does it seem like I have never seen birds before I moved to the Central Valley? Oh my, and here is yet another bird that puts me in touch with Autumn, no matter what time of year it is! The Black phoebe is also a favorite. I fell in love with them after we moved into the house in 2015. They would dance about the back yard, darting along the top of the pool, chasing scrub jays from their yard! I was mesmerized. It is one of the most comforting things to do when I am heartsick. I am happy just to sit and watch birds enjoy life. There is a big lesson in that. I had missed so much in life, and birds make me feel like striving to see more. They make me feel alive, especially in their days of uncertainty. We are in the autumn of 2023, and despite all the sad, strange and infuriating news, I am enjoying October. And there is a lot more good stuff to come!

"... So I Told Him To Sit Down, And He Sat Down."

“The heaviest penalty for declining to rule
is to be ruled by someone inferior to yourself.”

~Plato

I love that Matt Gaetz got his ass handed to him, and I don't even care why it happened! The point is someone put the little prick in his place, I smiled, and all was right with the world. Could it be the "freedom caucus is finally beginning to fall? Go ahead, say yes, you know you want to!

Krackenstein

“Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.”
~Napoleon Bonaparte

I remember sitting my office, my jaw was on the floor, and Sidney, Giuliani and their lot, was on the TV wringing their hands and declaring that not only had the 2020 election been stolen, and the truth was all in the corrupted voting machines, and they could prove it! And not only could they prove it, but THE KRACKEN would be released and then all democrats would eat dirt! Okay, she didn't say that last part, but she did then gone on to declare that Hugo Chavez, the Clinton Foundation, and George Soros, among others, had facilitated it, by GUM! Well, today, almost 3 years later, Sidney Powell agreed to plead guilty, in exchange for what amounts to basically a slap on the wrist, as opposed to the possibility of spending perhaps as much 20 years behind bars. She will pay fines and restitution, deal with 6 years probation, write a letter of apology to the people of Georgia, and testify, truthfully, in relation to her fellow defendants. I kinda wish she would have gotten the book thrown at her, but still, this was a much nicer morning to wake up to, as opposed to yesterdays. October... I love you, you unpredictable little monster!

Read all about it here.

Silly And Full Of Personality

“It looked like the world was
covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”

  ~ Sarah Addison Allen,

I love them so much. The Greater White-fronted geese are so fun and almost debonair. At least I think so. Mostly they are silly and full of personality. Oh my. It wouldn't be autumn without them! And right now, while I am completely stressed out, I am grateful for them.

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #28

“Tell me, O' Lovely Autumn,
how to wilt and change; come, show me
how to smile, while I say goodbye."

Just As The Earthquake Hit...

“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.”

~Ernest Benn

Tomorrow, round three.

I'm gonna say it, Jim Jordan is a clown. Congress is nothing more that a clown show. I can even hear the music in my head.

(Shake Shake Shake) Shake Your Booty

“If you’re listening to this, congratulations! You survived Doomsday.
I’d like to apologize straightaway for any inconvenience the end of the world may have caused you. The earthquakes, rebellions, riots, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, and of course the giant snake who swallowed the sun—I’m afraid most of that was our fault. Carter and I decided we should at least explain how it happened.”

~ Rick Riordan,

So this happened...

“A small, 4.8 quake, it was unlikely many other people in my town felt it. But alone in the house, I had shaken alongside the breaking earth, 1920s carnival glass looking on.”

 ~Tania Runyan

Okay, so this happened. While it was mild, it seemed to shake forever. It was centered in Isleton, which is on the delta between three small islands. It was 28 miles away from Stockton, and 10 miles deep. The San Francisco Chronicle says it was minute in duration. I didn't sleep well last night, so needless to say, I am rattled. I am in nervous laughing mode, which is why I went ahead and including that silly song from the 1970's disco era. I love that music anyway, so why not? I don't post enough videos. When I do, it's not usually music, and that's a shame. Maybe this turn of events will end up inspiring me to be more creative with Ellipsis.

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #27

“Give me a land of boughs in leaf
A land of trees that stand;
Where trees are fallen there is grief;
I love no leafless land.”

~A.E. Housman

Ghost Cupcakes & Spider Soup

“What do Halloween creatures eat?
Hot spider soup with pumpkin meat
and toasted, no-salt, bat-wing chips,
served best with Transylvania dips.
A thistle-horehound salad mix
has added crunch from sun-dried ticks.
The plat du jour is hairy beast
fried crisp in grimy goblin grease.
Now, don’t forget dessert so sweet;
try puss-cream pie or candied feet!”

~Richelle E. Goodrich,

I want to try all those dishes, and more. Maybe I will give it whirl this weekend. I have to make my monster bread too. I am really looking forward to that. I think it will a lot of fun and hubby and I always get a kick out of things like that! It's tricky though, as several worlds are currently colliding. The birds are returning. There are cheap movies coming up, and autumn drives through the county side. HALLOWEEN! Watching as many scary movies as possible. Leaf peeping...whew! And there is the ongoing tragedy in the Middle East, and Joe Biden's trip to Israel. It is such a tragic time, that I can't help but feel deeply sad inside.

There is still no Speaker of the House, which means for me that if there isn't a compromise on the debt ceiling, we could be facing the temporary closing, and shortened hours, of federal parks and reserves. The shutdown several years ago resulted in the inability to visit most of the parks under the Golden Gate National Recreational Area. Sigh. Just a few posts ago, I shared that I want to do it all this autumn, I want to taste it all. I want to see it all. Maybe I am asking too much, but any of it will do, as long as it eases some of my grief, and let's me catch my breath and forget how much I am hurting. And it would just be nice little time away from the scary goings on between Israel and Palestine.

Lord, give me strength, and hear my prayers.
