Ellipsis Weekend Cooking... Halloween Part #1 Pumpkin Soup

Pumpkin soup - The Pioneer Woman - Recipe

"It's all just a bunch of hocus pocus."

Hocus Pocus

Hey, a ghoul's gotta eat. That being said, I am just fine with making this month, October, all about Halloween eats. Starting up... Pumpkin soup, one of my favorites! I love, love love to make soup. It's so easy to make something truly decadent, and of course soups are so versatile, both in ingredients, and time of day served! So, pumpkin soup seems like the best bet for the busy days of autumn! And to go with it, how about some wonderful, Golden Pumpkin Dinner Rolls, from, King Arthur Flour? Goodness, my mouth is watering! I must go eat now!

"I think seasons complete me, for when autumn comes I can fall freely,

along with every autumn leaf.

I do not have to bloom and yet I must die, in every delicate line of autumn."

Ellipsis Movie Of The Week... Fun With Dick And Jane

"We might be in a bit of a pickle, Dick."

~Jane Harper (Tea Leoni)

This is definitely my favorite movie of 2005. We could all identify, we were a nation with struggles. Then, just three years later the housing crisis happened, and it all got worse. LOL. But this movie, while dealing with similar realities, made me laugh about how absurd it all was. Life, got absurd. Laughably, terrifyingly absurd. In 2008 and 2009, I would drive down the streets of the city I was living in, and see, what felt like every other house, with a "FOR SALE" sign in the front yard. And some long established businesses too. Well, fast forward... and here we are. Brent Crude closed yesterday at $98.60 and the Dow closed down - 248.34 or .92%. Welcome to America being "great again." So, watch this movie how got it right, it's funny, relatable, and so, sit back, relax, and laugh, it's all we can do! LOL. Both the original, and the 2005 versions are available right now on YouTube. Don't miss them!

"Autumn is a beautiful but sad poem that dying leaves recite with great enthusiasm so that the world will remember them as they bid farewell to the world."

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #7

"And all at once, summer collapsed into fall."

~Oscar Wilde

Summer is still doing it's fair share of collapsing. We are still experiencing hot days, but we are having gentle evenings, where the temperature drops into sweater weather. But I am not complaining, I am actually grateful that we still have some dry weather to enjoy. This year's, El Nino, is promising to be quite the gusher. Lots and lots of rainy weather is due to hit northern California in late October, or early November. The state is already planning for it, Governor Newsom has declared a State of Emergency to get out ahead of what might be coming. So, I am trying to hope for the best, because if the worst happens, getting adorable shots like this one, which Hubby helped me with, or any autumn leaf shots for that matter, could be very difficult. I am just going to deal with it when it gets here.

"Of all the seasons, autumn offers the most to man, and requires the least of him."

~Hal Borland
