November

"A few days ago, I walked along the edge of the lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made. The acoustics of this season are different and all sounds, no matter how hushed, are as crisp as autumn air."

~Eric Sloane

Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. Hey look... at tree with leaves on it! Autumn leaves!

So Long Donny And Nina (Not Their Real Names)

LOL. Why does everything look more lovely when one is completely relaxed? I am completely relaxed right now because my nasty neighbor has finally moved out! No more yappy dog barking at 3:00 AM. No more mean spirited remarks made by them as I walk by. No more having to listen to the two love birds call each other ASSHOLE. No more someone trying to turn neighbor against neighbor. After 4 long years of almost solid tension... Calm. Quiet. Peace.

It Was A Witching Time

"There is a child in every one of us who is still a trick-or-treater looking for a brightly-lit front porch."

~Robert Brault

The Stylish Witches...

It was a wonderfully warm, and fun Halloween over our way! This year's most popular costume goes to the witches! Not a big surprise, considering the ratings American Horror Story: Coven is receiving! I know it's my favorite show! I thought about putting together a costume of my favorite black skirt, a white silk blouse, and then donning my cool velvet witch's hat I bought some years back, and going as one of the coven, but I decided to go a more whimsical route at the last minute. I decided to be a rubber duck instead! LOL. I thought it would be fun, and it was. And Alan got into the spirit of things... he went as Uncle Si from the A&E show Duck Dynasty. It's fun when we get costumes together! We are still just kids at heart!

October Round Up And HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Eye of newt, and toe of frog
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog
Adder's fork, and blind worms sting
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing
For a charm of powerful trouble
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble
Fire burn, and caldron bubble

~William Shakespeare

Happy Halloween! As we speak, I am out and about, Trick or Treating. Mostly in San Francisco, but I have a few places to haunt in the East Bay as well! I might show you some photos of our costumes later this next week. We'll see. So, for now, I will say goodnight. Be safe ghoulies and ghosties. Look both ways and under the bed! Be sure to check the closet. If you hear disembodied voices, or far away moans, no worry, it's just the neighbors having sex! Or is it?

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

A Look Back At October...

50 Shades Of Pumpkin

"October, tuck tiny candy bars in my pockets and carve my smile into a thousand pumpkins... Merry October!"

~Rainbow Rowell, Attachments

Well, not fifty shades, but then again, I am still looking for the perfect pumpkin!

Zombies, Trees, And Leaves Oh My...

Bitting into heads.
Is much harder than it looks.
The skull is feisty.

~Ryan Mecum, Zombie Haiku: Good Poetry For Your... Brains

Our Halloween costumes came today. I may or may not post a picture of us as our alter egos, so you will just have to stay tuned! But if you care to take a guess, feel free to leave me a comment in the thread for this post.

A Face In The Crowd: The Whistling Tree

"The truest smile are those which spread across our faces when no one's watching us."

~Minhal Mehdi

While out and about, shopping for Halloween costumes with Alan, I spotted this tree in Hayward. It's been fairly windy this weekend, leaves are blowing about everywhere, so I found this angle on the tree rather amusing. As the wind blew, and the leaves went tumbling past, it almost looked like the tree was blowing the leaves along. Or maybe the tree was whistling. There was a spooky whistling in the wind. You know the one... it kind of sounds like there is a ghost somewhere nearby... or maybe it's the sound of a witch, riding her broomstick, and making good time, thanks to a cooperative breeze. Shrug.

One never knows about these things.

But I know a pretty cool face when I see one! And the smile on the tree made me smile.

Every Hundredth Of A Second...

"Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second."

~Marc Riboud

TaaDaa! I did it! I finally got the shot of Pier 39s 35th Anniversary Celebration fireworks! It was the last Saturday evening they were going to put off the fireworks, so it was my last chance, and I did it! I got the shots that have been evading me for the last few weeks! Yay!

 Behold...

I Love October!
