"A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a whispering in distant chambers, an unearthly hand presses the snib of the window, the latch rises. Ghosts were created when the first man awoke in the night."
-J.M. Barrie
This is my entry for this week's Monday Photo Shoot! My two little boys, all dressed up and ready to go Trick or Treating! I wasn't sure if dressing up and indulging their mommy in some photographic cuteness would be their cup of tea, but to my delight, they were not only happy to don their costumes, but did so with a good bit of happiness! I think they feel special when I take their photos, they are always at ease around the camera! Here are my two little fellas, Hendrix the Devil, and Dylan the Witch of Berkeley!
"Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out contagion to this world."
-William Shakespeare
It's midnight, see, look at the time stamp! And since it's midnight, and a storm is approaching, I am going out into the dark, damp night to enjoy the best holiday of all, the one day I look forward to all year... HALLOWEEN! Honestly, the mere mention of the day, brings me to a silly childlike giddiness. So excuse me dear reader, as I am off to haunt the village, and hopefully, find myself in a time warp.
Sing it with me if you dare...
Time Warp
It's astounding, time is fleeting Madness takes it toll But listen closely, not for very much longer I've got to keep control
I remember doing the Time Warp Drinking those moments when The blackness world hit me and the void would be calling me Let's do the time warp again, Let's do the time warp again!
It's just a jump to the left And a step to the right With your hands on your hips You bring your knees tight But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane Let's do the time warp again!
It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me So you can't see me, no not all all In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention Well-secluded, I see all With a bit of a mind flip You're there in the time slip And nothing can ever be the same You're spaced out on sensation, like you're under sedation Let's do the time warp again!
Well I walking down the street, just having a think When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink He shook me up, he took me by surprise He had a pick-up truck and the devil's eyes He stared at me and felt a change Time meant nothing, never would again Let's do the time warp again Let's do the time warp again!
BWAHAHAHAHA!
;)

PS: Be sure to comeback later today, to see Hendrix and Dylan in their Halloween costumes! And remember, there is still time to play along with this week's Monday Photo Shoot! The assignment is "HALLOWEEN."
Look what I spotted in traffic yesterday, while out and about! Let's have some fun, shall we? Caption the photos! Pick one or do both, it's completely up to you! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
I love photographing all kinds of butterflies, because each one presents a different behavior. The easiest, at least for me, is the Gulf Fritillary. It is a fairly large butterfly and it when it lands on a flower or stick, it usually spends a couple moments there. That gives me ample time to get both closed and open wing photographs. My favorite butterfly overall is the Painted Lady. It has such beautiful colors and is almost as easy to photograph as the Gulf Fritillary.
Do you enjoy garden photography? Do you photograph butterflies? If so, feel free to share your favorites with me. I would love to know about your experiences with photographing butterflies.

I was treated to a very nice surprise this past weekend, when I paid a visit to the Plumas County Visitor's Bureau web page, to view the latest leaf-peeper report, I found that they had linked to my blog and to my Autumn Pictorial from last Saturday! How cool is that? They had some lovely and encouraging things to say about my photography, which, of course, always means a lot to me. Thanks again folks! :)
Plumas County is such a lovely place, I have completely fallen in love with every inch of it! And every person I met on my travels throughout the county were just as nice as they could be! I was so impressed with the area that I am already planning my next visit. Hopefully it will be in late May to photograph the amazing collection of wildflowers they have, but if not, it will definitely be in autumn. Glorious, spectacular, amazing AUTUMN!

Family Day 2009...
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you probably already know about the holiday Alan and I made up... Family Day! For those of you who are relatively new to my little corner of the Internet, let me explain. Alan and I got married on October 13th, 1990. While on our honeymoon, we began to imagine what future Octobers might be like, especially if we had children. We decided that since we would more then likely be spending our anniversaries alone, we would come up with a special day between October 13th and October 31st to celebrate being a family, and thus, Family Day was born! Alas, we never had children, but we do have fur-babies, so that still counts... right?
As always, we spent the day in Half Moon Bay, California, and then took a ride along the coast to Santa Cruz, where we had lunch. We picked out pumpkins, we stopped at our favorite Organic Vegetable stand, The Farmer's Daughter, and bought some Brussels Sprouts, and Heirloom tomatoes, and had a very happy day together. I even bought a new teddy bear at Pastorino's Pumpkin Patch. I wait all year to buy a bear, this year it was a little white bear, and it was a steal at only $3.00! But even if I hadn't found the little bear, I spent the day holding Alan's hand, as we walked in the autumn sun. It was a good day!
