Autumn Leaf Of The Day #90

"Nothing dies as beautifully as Autumn."

~Ashlee Willis
A Wish Made Of Glass

This gorgeous leaf is from my yard. I have the most beautiful Sugar Maple in my front yard, I've told this before, but I live for this tree to turn each Autumn, and that's is most of the time around, mid-October. This year, however, it only turned after Thanksgiving, a full month later than it usually does! So I have very few leaves to share in the project. That made me sad, but even after the season ends, I will share what beauty is still left. I can't let it go, without sharing the last of it's in all it's glory!

Ellipsis Christmas Movie Countdown #20

"King Moonracer (to Rudolph)
When someday you return to Christmastown, would you tell Santa about our little homeless toys? I'm sure he will find little boys and girls who will take them in. A toy is never truly happy until it is loved by a child."

~Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Who didn't love, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, growing up? It's first airing on TV was in 1964. I was 2, my sister was 12, and my brother would have been 16. I can't remember the original broadcast, but I am sure me and my siblings were siting around our old black and white TV watching it! Years later, I was growing up alone, as my siblings moved on their way, but every Christmas I had great old gems to enjoy, even if on my own, year after year, and even now! So, I will be making the hot chocolate and cuddling up with hubby to watch this old lovely holiday classic.

And as a second feature

More Of My Autumn Moments

"It was one of those perfect fall days,
when the air is cool enough to wake you up,
but the sun is kissing your face."

~Anita Diamant

And there are many, many more photos that I didn't post. Perhaps I will show them off in 2026, but for now, these photos represent some amazing feelings. It was part of my life. It was Autumn 2025!

Autumn's Fake Gold

"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I am upset that from now on I can't believe you."

~Friedrich Nietzsche

Trump Phones.
Are you surprised they still haven't filled the orders,
almost 5 months after they were due to be delivered?
6 months after the initial rollout?

Nothing this year has surprised me less.

Do I feel sympathy for the folks who trusted him with their $100 deposit?

Nope.

What has to happen before they finally understand who this man is?

Good luck to the gullible.

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #89

"Vibrant leaves are seen as poems or silent manifestations
written by time and wind, expressing graceful impermanence."

~Unknown

We are almost ready to say goodnight to autumn now, just a couple days to go! every leaf means a lot to me now. I love every one of them."

Just A Couple Of Cats On An Autumn Day

"Autumn paints in colors, fall has never seen."

~Unknown

Nothing to see here folk, just two cats in a tree, discussing the stupid orders people request at a drive-thru. Like my order, A Venti 7 pump iced Chai, a Bacon Egg, and Bacon sandwich, hold the bacon, a Sugar Plum Cheese Danish. I was hungry. I can't prove it photos, but I swear these cats were laughing at me, and all the cars in line behind me. Sigh. I'm being mocked by cats.

Ho, Ho, Ho!

Ellipsis Movie Countdown #18

"Just remember in every pothole there is hope Well, you see, pothole is spelled P-O-T-H-O-L-E. So, if you take the P, and add it to the H, the O, and the E, and rearrange the letters or contrariwise, you remove the O, T and the L, you get 'home". So, just remember, in every pothole there is hope".

~Phillip ( Steve Martin )
By Nora Ephron

I watched this movie comedy last night, and I felt so good laughing. It's a lot of crazy situational fun. It's also so heartwarming. It's a Christmas gem that I have almost never heard of as a Christmas movie. I can't figure out why? It has a terrific cast including, Steve Martin, Rita Wilson, Adam Sandler, and the magnificent, Madeline Kahn. Rob Reiner is very funny as a veterinarian. The timing all around was magical!

Need another Christmastime comedy? This movie brings it!

Autumn Leaf Of The Day #88

"Each falling leaf is an act of surrender,
teaching us to release the old to make way for new beginnings.

~Unknown

It's difficult to post autumn leaves, while grieving the loss of Rob Reiner and his wife. There has been a lot of tragedy this autumn, a lot of deaths. I am not sure what I would have done without my new kittens, who fill our home with joyful life! Ommie used to say, "and this too shall pass" and I have lived long enough to know it's true. The autumn leaves have brought so much color, to an otherwise dark and tearful time. Autumn heals me, and this year it is leaving way too soon, and I will grieve it's loss too, but winter will actually help me heal, by giving me some quiet, black and white photography time, to reemerge into the colors of spring.

Through The Autumn Fog

"She decided to free herself, dance into the wind, create a new language.
And birds fluttered around her, writing "Yes" on the sky."

~Monique Duval

There is so much wrong with this photograph, but at the same time there is something about it. Something really good. A kind of natural sadness to it. Or maybe not so much sadness or depression, but rather a pure melancholy that matches my current mood. Fog. Mist. Rain. Heavy thoughts. The kind of beauty that only comes from acknowledging all the moments, not just the good ones. Then letting them take flight, to make room for making new ones.

Ellipsis Christmas Movie Countdown #16

"It occurs to me that the best way you can hurt rich people,
is by turning them into poor people."

~Denholm Elliot (Coleman)

On A Late Autumn Day...

"The forest has a thousand moods...
For every mood an answering bird.
The bird is but a living word
To voice the spirit of the woods;
His own, the singer must sing;
He may not touch an alien string,
Nor silent be, nor fail the key,
Lest that aerial symphony.
which ever and forever weaves
It's mystic numbers through the leaves,
Should lack one deep or tender tone.
However dark, however lone
The shadow or the solitude,
The mighty oneness of the wood
Links singer unto singer there,
And pours one choral on the air.

~James H. Ecob
The Choral of the Forest, 1911

A beautiful Osprey, on a late Autumn day.

Ellipsis Christmas Movie #15

"I love that you get cold, when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you and hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you are looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend a day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you're the last person I want to speak to before I go to bed at night. And it's not because I am lovely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible."

~ The Character of, Harry Burns
When Harry Met Sally
Written by Norah Ephron
Directed by Rob Reiner

The love story that will take you through the holidays, ending on New Year's Eve.
Or was it just the beginning? It's difficult to choose which film was Rob Reiner's best, but I have always considered this among one of the best love stories of all time. Not to mention the beauty of autumn in New York, and so much more, including Carrie Fisher, as Sally's friend, Marie! It's everything. Truly.

Late Autumn's Hummingbird

"Some of my old memories feel trapped in amber in my brain, lucid and burning, while others are like the wing beat of a hummingbird, an intangible, ephemeral, blur."

~Mira Bartock
The Memory Place

I see a hummingbird, sitting at the very top of a certain branch, of a certain tree, every time I visit Cull Canyon Park, in Castro Valley, no matter what season I visit. I have no idea if it's the same one every time, or if this type of tree is just perfect for hummingbirds, but it's always a Anna's Hummingbird, and it loves to pose for me! Anna's Hummingbirds have been a real challenge for me to photograph, most of the time I have had trouble getting their colors, that bright or pink under their chins, or sometimes their bright green coat on their backs. It's difficult from any distance! But for some reason, I seem to do better with them in late autumn. Maybe it's because I am more relaxed, or is it really the autumn sun that brings the color? I don't know which, all I know is I am grateful for it. These birds are absolutely gorgeous, and they make life beautiful!
