I took this photo right at the end of summer, just before autumn officially began. The leaves fell from the trees as a whisper and wink to summers end. Something truly magical happens, when the autumn light intrudes on the last breath of summer, and summer only smiles.

I hadn't seen this movie in probably 30 years, and then there it was, right there on Prime! So, being that this is the season of monsters, real or imagined, I decided to watch it. To my surprise, it was better than I remembered it being! Corny in parts, but also compelling. As werewolf movies go, this is a pretty good one to sink your teeth into. Yes, I know, corny! But that's just the monster in me, this time of year!
Go... shoo... go watch it while it's still available! Now, enjoy this refreshing commercial from way back in the 1970, featuring, David Naughton, singing the Dr. Pepper song. Can you believe it's the same guy from the movie!? Sorry the quality isn't great, but it's cool all the same. And a nice memory of one of the greatest commercials from back in the day!

Summer is still doing it's fair share of collapsing. We are still experiencing hot days, but we are having gentle evenings, where the temperature drops into sweater weather. But I am not complaining, I am actually grateful that we still have some dry weather to enjoy. This year's, El Nino, is promising to be quite the gusher. Lots and lots of rainy weather is due to hit northern California in late October, or early November. The state is already planning for it, Governor Newsom has declared a State of Emergency to get out ahead of what might be coming. So, I am trying to hope for the best, because if the worst happens, getting adorable shots like this one, which Hubby helped me with, or any autumn leaf shots for that matter, could be very difficult. I am just going to deal with it when it gets here.

This is the very first, Autumn Leaf Of The Day, I hope there will be a lot more to come, but this has been a brutal summer, filled with very hot weather, and we are facing drought conditions, yet again. Finding leaves might be difficult to find, but you know I will try. We are also facing El Nino conditions later in the seasons, but rain has never worried me much, and fog doesn't either! So, we will see what we see, and if worse comes to worse, maybe instead of individual leaves, I will post autumnal landscapes. It will all work itself out.

With summer on it's way out the seasonal door, I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of my favorite parts of this time of year, the amazing summer webs! I will continue to look for webs throughout autumn, but there is just something about the webs spun in summer that speaks to me. I just wish I could have seen the spider, or spiders, who built this intricate arachnid condominium.
What says, it's the last days of summer. quite like finding a gorgeous, Great Egret, sitting in a tree, waiting for a dragonfly to hop into it's mouth.
Can you feel it in the air? Is the sun seeming to be a little more yellow and bright? I know, I know, it's still summer, but it has seemed to me that both those things have begun happening out my window, for the last a couple weeks, so there is not doubt in my mind, it's already autumn! I guess pre-season football has also helped me feel, despite fighting a stomach virus, like autumn is here to heal me, just with a wave and a slant of lovely light. The last day of August is almost here, in fact it's tomorrow, so I really don't mean to rush the natural order of things, but this has been a brutal month as far as temperatures go, and I am really looking forward to the temperatures of autumn. Even the days that are hot, bring early, cool nights that require a sweater, or at least a cozy blanket at the end of the bed!
Anyway, autumn is almost here, so enjoy a little preview of what could be.
It's on 65 days to go until the midterm elections. The midterms should be the great healer this year! Here's to Tuesday, November 3rd, 2026!
