American Horror Story: Catering Cart

"All warfare is based on deception."

~Sun Tzu

Well, this can't be good. I have my doubts about that post attributed to Marjorie Taylor Greene, but it's being covered by several respected news outlets, but the New York Times was not one of them. We live in an age when miscalculations could suddenly thrust us into all out war, nuclear or otherwise. On the other hand, if MTG knows something, and speaking up can save an entire world, then you go girl! At the end of the day, we also live in a world where Facebook and X is where people go for their news. I didn't hear word one about this on MS NOW, which is my main source for news, but there's always tomorrow. Who the fuck knows? But it wouldn't surprise me.

This doesn't help much either.

This is so stupid, I can't see straight.
Why didn't he just quote the Bible?

"The path of the downed aviator is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of comradery and duty shepherd the lost through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to capture and destroy my brother. And you will know my call sign is Sandy One, when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

~The Bible According To Hegseth
"CSAR 25:17"

"The path of righteous man is beset on all sides and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will, shepherd the weak through the valley of darkness, for his truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to capture and destroy my brother. And you will know my names is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

~The Holy Bible According To God

It's funny, it's cringeworthy, it's blasphemous, it's scary, it's confusing and I never wake up seeing this stupid shit coming! The Trump administration is exhausting.

25th Amendment NOW!

Needless to say, having the President threatening genocide has left me a bit distraught. Tonight, in his ignorance, he may kill up to 90 million people, start WWIII and leave the world subject to nuclear attracts... bio-weapons... and then... the end. There are so man world wide tragedies that could happen. One virus, that makes Captain Trips look like a simple head cold, is not hard to imagine.

I'm praying for the people Of Iran, my fellow Americans, and the 25th Amendment!

I will update, some time after 8:00 pm Eastern Time... I hope.

It scares me when he does things like this, posting questions about his own mortality and the hereafter. Trump is erratic. Who knows what's going on in his brain. Is he contemplating suicide? Is he not long for this earth, due to health related issues? And there's no way of knowing because no one with the information is going to tell anyone! It could be as simple as an elderly man processing his life, and contemplating the next chapter, but with Trump things are never as simple as that! All I know is it disturbs me greatly. I am afraid, because at the moment he also behaves like a hopelessly cornered dog, that he will decide that nuking the HELL out of the Middle East is what it means to be the ultimate peacemaker, and therefore worthy of Heaven, despite the repercussions for the rest of us! Too many psychotic people are whispering in his ear. And so begins another week of, will he nukes us, or will he get someone else to do it?

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE... it's the ultimate theme park ride!

Numbers

"A fool and his money are soon parted."

~Dr. John Bridges

Truth! Certain foolish Americans, MAGA in particular, voted for Donald Trump because he was a successful businessman. That still makes me laugh because a simple Google search would have told them a wildly different story. The true story of Trump is, he was just as deep a bottomless pit of incompetence as a businessman, as he is a president. Just since his declaring war on Iran, and as of the writing of this post, in the premarket, oil surging to about, $78 per barrel, and the Dow is falling, it's currently down, -533,00 (1.09%). Shit his own stock sucks. And now he's trying to run this war with Iran, the way he did his businesses. He will fail at war too, and then what?

It's all such a damn joke.

 A dangerous one.

When will folks wake up?

He lied to them about everything!

Congratulations, MAGA, the man you voted for, the man who said no more wars, is now a full on warmonger! Your tax dollars well spent. Killing people, you don't know in the name of peace, and Trump's next justification for perhaps winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Are enjoying this time with Trump, an obviously psychotic tinpot dictator?

One day, when the missiles are about to hit America, remember, YOU made it all happen, because he couldn't have got us all killed without you!

Two American hostages have been released by Hamas. Finally, we have some hope, perhaps guardedly, that he will see more released in the coming hours and days.

Breaking News, Israel

“Here is a list of terrible things,
The jaws of sharks, a vultures wings
The rabid bite of the dogs of war,
The voice of one who went before,
But most of all the mirror's gaze,
Which counts us out our numbered days.”

~Clive Barker

Pray for Israel. Pray for Palestine. I can't take a side here, I watched so much shame in the last decade. Shame plenty to go around. Hamas is a terrorist organization, but Israel has done horrible things to the Palestinian people. When I look at the situation I just feel small and quiet, and maybe that's for the best. Ultimately, my heart and strength is with the innocent.

Brian Williams Lied

"You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees, and the stars.
In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul."

~Max Ehrmann

This year, 2015, is turning out to be no more rational, no more explainable, than last year was. Something clicked in me last year, early in the year, as we transitioned from one disaster to another, which made me believe that one day, perhaps midnight on New Year's Eve, everything would suddenly make sense. Plane crashes, gifted people overdosing, police shooting unarmed children. Planes shot down from the sky. Suicide. Not one bit of it made sense to me. NOT ONE BIT!

So, I had a million or so questions, and very few answers. I had high hopes for 2015. As the clock struck midnight, suddenly, everything would fall into place, every question would be answered. How could my thinking be so immature? Of course the answers wouldn't just come to me, or anyone else for that matter. Life doesn't make any sense, starting with each defying the odds of being conceived, and actually making it into the world we share? What was I thinking? NOTHING MAKES SENSE!

I remember when it used to, but then again, I think I recall the same lament from my parents! But when they complained, I took them aside and explained the Walkman to them, and the remote, and answering machines, and VCRs and microwave ovens and so on.

So, I am going to pretend you, my followers, are my children and ask you...

Q. Why did Brian Williams have to tell that stupid lie?

I always liked him.

I still like him. He's human. But now he is a little more human then he used to be.

Big Days That Change Everything...

"A tragedy is a tragedy, and at the bottom, all tragedies are stupid. Give me a choice and I'll take A Midsummer Night's Dream over Hamlet every time. Any fool with steady hands and a working set of lungs can build up a house of cards and then blow it down, but it takes a genius to make people laugh."

~Stephen King

I have heard it said, many many times, that comedy and tragedy go together, hand in hand. You can't have one without the other. I believe that, for the most part, having lived through my own various tragedies, some as recent as a few months ago, when a friend committed suicide. At the time, there was nothing funny about it! 4 months later... there is nothing funny about it! But having fully transitioned the five stages of grief now, and having finally settled into acceptance, I understand that maybe one day some strange spark of humor will catch me off guard. Shrug. In some of my deepest grieving, I have found humor, and in truth that humor saved me.

Yesterday I woke up to a strange Deja vu feeling, as I listened to CNN's coverage of the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over the Ukraine. Initially there was reporting that the flight had gone missing, just like Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 did last March, but soon it was confirmed that indeed Flight MH17 had crashed, and then later it was confirmed that it had been blown out of the sky. There was nothing... nothing... that could be construed as humorous in the situation, and yet there I was making stupid jokes. Oh not about the crash per se, but rather the humor that was coming to me had to do with the fact that I have given up on the idea of ever flying commercial again! Or private jet for that matter!

I joked on Twitter that I was done with flying, and when I do decide to finally see London, I will simply ride my bike there! Good plan! And when Alan and I finally do that trip to New York City, well my preferred mode of transportation will be the handy dandy Segway! Hey, it could work, right? I mean if someone could walk to New York, or ride their electric wheelchair, then why not a Segway? It would be a living HELL over the Rockies, but whatever, I am willing to give it a go! See, there's that humor, nervous humor to be exact, that comes out when I am anxious, or scared! Inappropriate? Perhaps, but essential to my staying sane.

Selfish much?

Maybe... maybe not. Shrug. I am giving myself a break here. I am trying to remember that different people handle tragedy differently, and I am no exception.

Actor Jason Biggs got himself into a bit of trouble on Twitter yesterday for a series of tweets with a humorous spin regarding the crash. I thought he was fine, I wasn't offended by what he said, but it bothered some folks and they were more than happy to let him know! I don't know... I don't think he was trying to harm anyone, or hurt anyone, but I think we, the human race at large, has been subjected to so much tragedy since 9/11, personally and collectively, that we are raw when it comes to times like this! We can't grieve for each other, that is a personal journey we all get to ourselves. We can be there for each other, we can relate, we can sympathize and empathize, but at the end of the day, we all must deal with the tragedy and absurdities in our own way.

It's a lonely feeling isn't it?

Maybe we can just all try to remember to be patient with each other.

As a point of irony, I read about a young man, a passenger, who tweeted a bit of humor, just before boarding the doomed flight. He was referencing the missing Malaysian Flight 370. I can only imagine that he also used humor to help him through the anxious moments of life. Sigh. His name was Cor Pan and there is a Facebook Memorial page for him if you would like to leave your respects. Yeah, I think trying that idea about using a little patience with each other might be the way to go.

Patience... a good thing in times of war. Both our internal conflicts and those of the world.

On The Eve Of September 11th

"War is what happens when language fails."

~Margaret Atwood

On The Eve Of September 11th

Here we go again. We (America) is about to march off to an unnecessary war. A war that doesn't have to happen, perhaps more blatantly than the last one that didn't have to happen. If I close my eyes, and listen to the justifications for the current plea for war, I swear I hear Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney talking, and in place of John Kerry, is that Colin Powell I hear?

Sigh.

I get it. I do. Syrian President Bashar Assad is suspected of using chemical weapons on his own citizens. It's a horrendous thought. I saw a video over the weekend of children, one small boy in particular, dying a slow hideous death, with a heartbreaking look on his face that seemed to beg... WHY? I won't forget that image easily, or quickly. I understand President Obama's anger, and determination to hold President Assad accountable. No one with a soul could have done that to that child! Of course that child's murder, and the murder of those around him, must be met with justice! But what is being asked of America, it's military and citizens, is wrong! Killing more, to prove murder, no matter how it is committed, is wrong! IS AS WRONG AS IT GETS!

And it's unnecessary in that there are legal paths that can be taken to accomplish the justice those victims deserve!

If President Assad did indeed use chemical weapons, he has committed a war crime. He needs to stand trial in an International Criminal Court. PERIOD!

Yesterday, a tape made it's way to the media, which showed the execution of seven men of Assad's military, being stripped down, bent over, and assassinated by gunshots to the back of the head. That act was carried out by just one of the several different anti Assad rebel groups. Which one? I don't really know! As I said, it was one group of many, who all seem to have different agendas. Also in the news recently, was a video of a different Syrian rebel eating the heart of a dead Syrian soldier. Again, I have no idea what group that rebel belonged to! All I know is, it made me sick! And I am pretty sure it is just as unimaginable, and horrendous an act to the average American. But does average America want to risk aiding a group like that, in order to scare Assad off of using chemical weapons? Are we saying... "Sure, torture, kill, desecrate the deceased body, hold the dead up as trophies, but we draw the line at chemical weapons, so we are going to help you with your presidential problems, now be sure to remember us on your holiday lists, because we helped!"

Okay, I know, that was way over simplifying things. Or was it?

President Obama has shown a shocking lack of leadership in this situation! God! I am now agreeing with some republicans! Do you know how profoundly sad that makes me? Honestly, I don't know how we can be sitting here, on the eve of the 12th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, standing on the cliff of yet another war! I supported President Bush's original plan to go into Afghanistan. 90% of my fellow Americans were with me in that. But by the time we heard the drumbeats of war in Iraq, I no longer trusted the word of President Bush, or those around him! I never supported going into Iraq, and if you remember me from my old AOL Journal days, you know how heavily that war sat on my mind and heart! I think that all these years later, we all know what that was all about! We don't need to rehash that situation, but we don't need to forget it either. Especially not now! I will not blindly support any human man, it makes no difference to me who the president is, wrong is wrong!

Dear President Obama...

I get the stand you are taking, but I cannot support a military strike now or ever! I want to see Bashar Assad stand trial in an open, international court. Make an example of him, and set an example while you are at it! If he has used chemical weapons, act accordingly, act legally. The U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said this past Tuesday that, any action taken against Syria would be illegal without Security Council approval or a sound case for self defense. Please Mr President, don't make everything worse by committing an international illegal act! You represent WE THE PEOPLE! The majority of Americans don't want you to do this. LISTEN TO US. Remember who you are, or at least who you were, or at least who you told us you were. God, I don't even know which one it is! And that makes me profoundly sad for both of us! You say if America strikes Syria, it would be limited and no boots would be on the ground, but what about the unknown? Maybe you believe that sir, but what about events you can't foresee? And what about the adjoining countries? What happens if Syria strikes other countries because of our actions, do we defend them? Or do we leave them to pick up the pieces on their own? Mr. President, the answer doesn't always have to be war! The answer needs to be, what doesn't happen nearly enough... JUSTICE!

If there is a regime change Mr. President, do we know who, and what we will be putting into power?

"There are causes worth dying for, but none are worth killing for."

Note: I Titled This Post "On The Eve Of September 11th" because of how I have, ironically, written so many posts about how I wish we could all go back to Monday, September 10th, 2001. The day before everything changed. We could have all made different decisions. Some of us could have stopped what happened, and those of us who couldn't have done much to have changed the day, could have taken that particular day a lot less for granted.

Troublesome Things

"Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome."

~Isaac Asimov

Here is the latest scene that can be found in one of my favorite parks in the East Bay... Cull Canyon Park. It was raining yesterday, so there was a proper chill in the air, just enough to remind me that it's time to get the scarves and mittens out! There was a little bit of mist moving ghostly through the trees, and if you stood in one place, you could hear the fallen leaves dancing about. It's so strange, some years there are red, yellow, pink and orange leaves right up until December 21st. I love those years of Christmas shopping, while counting leaves. This year will be different. The color is already draining from autumn's face, and in it's place will be the cold wrinkles of winter.

If the Mayan prophesy is true, as autumn ends, so will our existence. Actually, they didn't really foretell of the end of days, so much as a time of transformation. Personally, I don't believe it will be our literal end that day, but it certainly is possible to see dire times ahead. It's possible that someone, somewhere will make a decision that will... well... usher in a new reality. It's a shame about the escalating violence between Israel and Palestine. War for peace sake has never made much sense to me, but who am I to tell anyone how to achieve happiness. I don't have an opinion on that conflict. It's up to them to determine their destiny, but I do wish that there was peace and except when it comes to autumn leaves... I would love a hundred year war of autumn leaves. I wonder which color would emerge as the ultimate victor?

Red? Yellow? Pink? Orange? Green? Brown?

Only time, and the seasons, will tell! In the mean time, I will just keep counting autumn leaves.

Memorial Day 2008

"Four things support the world: the learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the good, and the valor of the brave."

-Muhammad

The War Memorial, in Lafayette, California, is adding additional crosses to the hillside today, not just for the men and woman killed in action in the two wars we are fighting in the Middle East, but to also reflect those who have taken their own life, since returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's about time we did more for our brave then simply putting a yellow ribbon of support on our cars and windows that says, "Support The Troops." Today, let's remember the total cost of war.

Hey...There's A Thought...

"It's bad in Iraq...does that help?"

-George W. Bush, Washington D.C., December 7, 2006

As I was driving past the university today, I saw several protest stations like this one. I suspect as Bush continues along on this devastating path he is currently on, I will be seeing more and more of this sentiment. I wish... so often I wish... that he would follow the example of Richard Nixon, and resign the office of the presidency, for the good of the country he swore he would protect and defend. Alas, he has only HIS best interests at heart, not ours. So, I have to wonder, how do you suppose he will manage to change the constitution in order to keep his job as president even after his term expires? I mean really, where would an ego like his go after this? It's a depressing time in America...
