Why am I voting for Tom Steyer for governor of California? Because after watching last nights, CNN California Primary Debate, it became clear that he represented my values. He supports renewable energy. Solving the housing crisis in California, adding additional tax relief to the movie industry for California productions, which brings in local revenue in the support of local businesses, such as Yolanda's Tamales, in Sacramento. The cast and crew of the film, One Battle After Another, enjoyed Yolanda's so much, that they returned multiple times! Pretty soon, word got out, and Yolanda's made a lot of new friends and customers! We need more of that! We need it here in Stockton too.

Tom gets that with gas hitting new highs each day, Californians can't afford to live here. Gas or groceries? Gas or keeping the lights on? Gas or healthcare? Tom has some plans for affordability. Despite being a billionaire, he sees the need for the richest in this state to start paying their fair share. He believes in investing in our education system, and finding the way toward healthcare for all. As I have always said, it doesn't matter who you are, you deserve the dignity of proper healthcare. If the person standing next to you in line at the grocery store or Starbucks or anywhere is in better health, you'll be in better health! And finally, he will work to unmask Trump's Gestapo, otherwise known as ICE.

It all lines up. I am voting for Tom Steyer!

The Mothman Prophecies is loosely based on the 1975 book, which is based on the actual events that occurred in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in the 1960's. Who doesn't love a story, based on a story, based possibly on real events? Personally, I will take it any which way, because I love horror stories, legends, and fictionalized accounts of spooky things and places. So, as you might imagine, I am a big fan of this story in any form. It's a big winged creature, that has big red eyes, and may or may not be a harbinger of death. You probably know the legend by now, so I won't yammer on about it, but I will say, I would love to see one, one day. There was a reported sighting of one, sitting on top of the Tower bridge in Sacramento, a few years back. I look for it whenever I visit Old Sacramento, but so far I've had no luck. Which is a good thing I guess. But one day, with a little luck, it will be sitting high atop the bridge's golden tower, with it's big red eyes staring out into the night, and my camera will be powerless and my phone will have been absentmindedly left at home. So when it happens, and I come back here to tell you all about it, you'll just have to believe me.

In case any rabid MAGA nutjob is reading that quote, and the words in this blog post, firstly, FUCK YOU, second, I believe the quote fits the not just the way I am feeling right now, but also the overall theme of this post.

We are planning on attending the, "No Kings" rally in Sacramento. We have decided we must take a bigger stand than bitching on social media! So, we are leaving the house early, and with blankets and sodas, and we are off to the event. Hopefully parking won't be a drama, and we can just focus on exercising our constitutional right to make our voices heard. It's called the First Amendment. It's precious, being it's being shattered, raped and degraded. 

 

Soon, Trump will be sending ICE into San Francisco to threaten and intimate. All as an excuse to disparage one of the most beautiful cities America has to offer. It's a big city, so yes there has been crime, but the crime rate has been steadily falling for years now. It's nonsense to invade the city, based of the whims of Elon Musk, and other tech assholes. I live in the San Joaquin Valley, but San Francisco will always be my home. Trump is an unimaginable liar and I hope whatever photos I am able to get will reflect that. 

 

Also, have you heard about this nonsense of putting him on a coin, with his likeness  after he was grazed by a bullet? And about that, why have we been given so little details about that day? It's clear something is being hid from us, shrug, I don't care enough about him to care, and yet at the same time, it's curious, isn't it? I don't deal in conspiracy theories, but with all the money he has made off that incident, it makes one wonder if it was actually all staged, but then it all went terribly wrong. Someone died. Remember that. Someone died.

Finally, I am going to be voting YES on Proposition 50! It's time we fought back against Trump's obvious rigging of the upcoming, 2026 midterms, which, of course, could and probably would, lead to the Republicans winning the White House again in 2028, all based on gerrymandering. I can't do much about all the political chicanery, but I can vote, I can attend protests, I can stay informed, and you can bet your ballot, I will do just that!

Everything is kinda dark right now. From unprecedented storms, to what might very well be the last election in my lifetime. I found this leaf in Sacramento, at the Capitol Rose Garden, which is currently under renovation. There were no roses, but the trees surrounding the circle were putting on quite a show. Definitely one of my favorite places to leaf peep. Sacramento is enchanting in Autumn.

November is here! Bringing with it the first really cold day of the year. At least it seems that way to me! The temperature right now reads 64 degrees, but with the wind it feels more like 54 degrees. Anyway, I love feeling cold. I love wearing my autumn/winter sweaters, so all is good. And the leaves... well... it's getting gorgeous outside!

I went leaf peeping with a squirrel the other day. It's true! I was in Sacramento the other day looking for leaves, and suddenly there it was, chattering and climbing up and down a big Sweet gum tree. He bounced in and out of a pile of leaves, and ran in funny little circles. He followed me for a bit, and then skedaddled back up his tree, where he continued to chatter. I think he wanted to tell me that just across the park, sat a gorgeous oak tree with freshly turned leaves. Or maybe he was just asking why I had to go all the way to Sacramento to find leaves? Maybe he was actually yelling some squirrel obscenity at me. "Lady, don't even think about stealing my acorns!" Yeah, I think that was probably it! It's okay, we just need time to make friends. I am sure we will meet again, as I visit several times in the season, because Sacramento is glorious this time of year!

  The Four-Story Mistake

 

I went to Sacramento yesterday, to peep some leaves at my favorite park in the city, Crocker park, which is so named because it sits right next to the Crocker Museum. Sacramento is known for, among other things, it's love of trees. It's estimated that there are approximately 1 million tress, all within the city limits! That's a lot of leaves! And it's home for a lot of critters! I have kept to just a couple key areas on the city, for doing my Sacramento leaf peeping, but this year, as time allows, I think I would like to explore more parks and the capitol grounds. As you can see, Autumn is getting off to a slow start there, but that's fine, I need more time to consider what my options are. One thing is for sure, October is almost over and the days are getting darker earlier, so early mornings are going to have to become my friend. For right now, I know it's always just down the road, and there is always something to see!

One day, late last year, I was in Sacramento doing some autumn leaf photography, when I spotted a sandwich lying on top of a parking meter. I didn't touch it, obviously, so I don't know what kind of sandwich it was, or who placed it there, but I have a suspicion that it was put there to help feed the homeless in, and near, the park. The particular park sits across from the Crocker Museum. But that's just a guess on my part. If true I approve. Empathy is something that isn't practiced enough in this world. No child born aspires to be homeless, and we have no idea what each individual struggle was, so if we can just remember that it could happen to any one of us, perhaps homelessness will one day decline by real numbers, but as long as it remains ignored or treated with ignorance then we are are causing the very thing we revile and fear.

The sky has been amazingly beautiful lately. Of course I credit the leaves with that. Just look at those bright orange leaves. But wouldn't any color standout against a sky that blue? Well, maybe, but in all fairness to blue, I think God chose the right color to put in the sky. All the variations of blue are so beautiful,  and it's keeping my eyes focused upwards, into the sun's warm light. Blue is also the color of my love's eyes. He has the most beautiful eyes, although it was his sexy knees that first caught my eye. He was a high school athlete, track, to be exact, which explains his gorgeous knees! Anyway, his blue eyes have also encouraged me to focus upwards, in mood and in life in general. That means everything to me.

I was walking next to the Crocker Museum when I took this picture, and while this walk was not in a forest, I couldn't have been happier. Although, I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Walking in a warm, orange, russet, and yellow autumn forest would give me enough happiness to see me safely other side of this life, with no regrets or fear, where I am pretty sure it's autumn 24/7, and it smells and tastes like cinnamon.
