It's October 31st, and I intended to pick a fabulous movie as my favorite for Halloween, but the closer I got to the day, the more apparent it became, that I wouldn't be able to chose just one. So, here are the one's I will be watching on Halloween. The one's that time will not allow for, I will watch on Saturday. You see, when Halloween falls on a Friday, you can still celebrate throughout the weekend. It's the law of fun. I am going to bake, carve pumpkins, and have a special meal out with hubby, and enjoy the kittens. And you? Do you celebrate Halloween? Do you love horror movies? If not, what's your favorite genre? The leaves aren't very bright this year. I have only come across a few that are showing off in the lighter colors of autumn. I don't know... it's like something, or someone, drained the colors from them this year. I will keep looking, because no matter what, I will celebrate autumn as long as it wants me to, whether it's smiling or not!

I spotted this gorgeous, White-tailed Kite, and it's mate, just lazing in the very top of a tree, surveying for their lunch. Those red eyes are both beautiful and frightening to me. I remember the first time I saw one, I though it might just be the most graceful devil I had ever seen! Autumn eyes.

The Mothman Prophecies is loosely based on the 1975 book, which is based on the actual events that occurred in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in the 1960's. Who doesn't love a story, based on a story, based possibly on real events? Personally, I will take it any which way, because I love horror stories, legends, and fictionalized accounts of spooky things and places. So, as you might imagine, I am a big fan of this story in any form. It's a big winged creature, that has big red eyes, and may or may not be a harbinger of death. You probably know the legend by now, so I won't yammer on about it, but I will say, I would love to see one, one day. There was a reported sighting of one, sitting on top of the Tower bridge in Sacramento, a few years back. I look for it whenever I visit Old Sacramento, but so far I've had no luck. Which is a good thing I guess. But one day, with a little luck, it will be sitting high atop the bridge's golden tower, with it's big red eyes staring out into the night, and my camera will be powerless and my phone will have been absentmindedly left at home. So when it happens, and I come back here to tell you all about it, you'll just have to believe me.

 

But will you? Bwahahahahahaha!

I came across these gorgeous autumn colored Hibiscus on my travels the other day, and couldn't resist photographing them. I see autumn everywhere, not just in the slant of the sunlight, I pay attention to anything nodding towards the autumn sun, even if it's called, Summer in Paradise, or Acapulco Gold. They are lovely, and exotic, and I'll take it!

Once again, I am probably making a political statement with these choices, but that's all beside the point, I love Stephen King's books, and I thought these adaptions were horror perfection! They are great on a windy, rainy afternoon, but if you're watching it while suffering from Captain Tripps, Uh, I mean Captain Trumps, oops, I mean Covid-19, it can feel really surreal, like you've suddenly found yourself in a Stephen King book. but really, aren't we?

If you've ever wondered where I get my quotes from, I actually get them from several sources, but my favorite autumn quotes are from Goodreads.com. You might see some of the quotes I choose several times throughout autumn, because they will fit the mood I am setting. Shrug. I try to not repeat them, and I tryto pick some pretty ones, because life is, well, stressful, no matter where the stress is coming from. Anyway, I hope you love the leaves and appreciate focusing on them. At the end of the season I hope to have something special. All I want is bring you some relief.

It's Saturday, so I plan to spend the day watching movies all day! The Omen Trilogy is one of my favorite sets, so I saved it for the week just before Halloween! I expect I will be doing multi-movie nights leading up until Halloween on Friday, and probably into the, Day Of The Dead, as well. I have to confess, my draw to these movies the last few years isn't just the terrific acting, or how wonderfully beautifully filmed they are, but the fact that the evil in the White House making the drama seem all the more real. And all the more Scary. I believe in evil. I believe that the anti-Christ will eventually make himself known one day. I am a Christian, and my faith says it's true. Whether it will be in my lifetime, who knows, but watching the evil doings of our current government certainly demonstrates how easy it will probably come to pass. Weak willed humans will lead the way. It's biblical. Okay, I'm done.

 

These are really great movies.

 Watch them for the talent.

 Remember them for the messages they convey.

Isn't that a gorgeous bird? I never get tired of photographing Sandhill Crane, especially while they are doing simple things, like just standing in the middle of a field, on a warm October day. I don't need big flyovers, although I love them, I just need a happy bird enjoying the day, to bring out the happy photographer in me.

Halloween Countdown Film #11... The Rocky Horror Picture Show

That's a good question, Janet Weiss, I feel that way all the time! Shrug. I guess all we can do is, do the time warp again! This movie came out in 1975, so I know you've seen it, but if you haven't please watch it. It's fun. Tim Curry is magnificent as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. It would be a shame not to see it at least once in life. It's a comedy, a horror show, and a love story. It's a movie, a Broadway show and it's a cult classic! What's not to love?
