The Mouse Who Found It's Balls

"Censorship it the child of fear, and the father of ignorance."

~Laurie Halse Anderson
Speak

On May 23rd, 2007, Rosie O'Donnell, and Elizabeth Hasselbeck, engaged in an argument so profound, that it ended up being Rosie's last day as moderator of ABC'S, The View. It was tough, and embarrassing to watch as the viewer, but it was hard to look away from. It was about more than politics, it was about respect in the workplace, friendship, and yes, changing political behaviors, beginning, in my opinion, with the Bush administration, when right-wing media reveled in the brutalities of opinion, and the ignorance of the voter/viewer. Back when politics encouraged division at all cost, and that is what has gotten us to this point. I have often said that you can lay the blame on Sarah Palin, and her ridiculous Tea Party Patriots, for the state of our nation, but in looking back at this old clip, I see a lot more was involved. And thank goodness we had that show that day, and thank god we have it now to refer back to, because at the time, we had no idea how lucky we were in that moment. We got to watch the argument happen, and decide for ourselves what was at the core.

Fast forward, and it's suddenly, June 16th, 2015, and Donald Trump, seizing on the dangerous political rise of fuck you politics, rides down a fake golden escalator, and into American political history, as the first gameshow host in history to become president, in his first term, and the first convicted felon, to be elected to a second term. America, it seems, has quite the sense of humor! All joking aside, Donald Trump has been sticking his big nose into just about every area of our lives, including popular culture. He's sued the networks, accepted bribes in order to insure the successful merging of Paramount with Warner Bros/Discovery. David Ellison's wet dream is to  have eventual control of, Paramount, CNN, HBO, Warner Brother's, Discovery, and CBS. To that end, CBS has been kissing Donald Trump's ample butt! He waves a wand and David Ellison, and his minions, such as Bari Weiss, give him whatever he wants within the network, including the firings of Steven Colbert and Scott Pelley. It's embarrassing for them, and depressing for us. Gone are two important and powerful voices who spoke truth to power! CBS is dying, they just haven't pulled the plug yet.

ABC, who is also under constant threat from Donald Trump, hasn't been so easy to be kicked around. Jimmy Kimmel was yanked off the air last year, for one night, as the weak willed network caved to Trump's demands, not only with Kimmel, but with settling a multi-million dollar lawsuit, which most legal experts said the network could have won easily due to a lack of merit. They capitulated to him as they would a school yard bully, and in true bully fashion he keeps coming back for more. But wait... not so fast! ABC, which is owned by Disney, is now saying, ENOUGH! And what did it take? It took the insistence that, The View, change it's content to suit his liking, or face investigations by Trump's FCC, putting licensing of company owned stations on the line. Well, the network, and The View, is having none of it! They are fighting back, and it will more than likely play out over the summer.

I suppose that saying the mouse has found his balls is a bit harsh. After all, the mouse found himself in uncharted waters, just like the rest of us, and they seem to be taking a stand now... finally... I just hope when all is said and done, they will never cave to the bully again. I don't know, maybe they see that everything has been failing for Trump, hard. In the last few weeks, his vanity projects. His hillbilly smackdown on the east lawn of the White House, and to a devastating effect, the war by choice in Iran. 13 lives... gone. A girls school in Iran bombed, and yes, he is trying to not take responsibility for, and last year the illegal tariffs, that threatened to bring down the world economy. Did I mention the reflecting pond? If the Democrats manage to take both the senate and the congress, impeachment and possibly removal, will be in his future. Please, God, Please. Of course that's assuming he won't try another coup on November 3rd.

Be brave Micky, be brave!

Does It Matter If Things Go Kablooey?

"I realized that this was the big secret to democracy...
that change can occur by starting off with just a few people doing something."

~Michael Moore
Here Comes Trouble

Are you going? This Saturday, March 28th, will be time to get off my butt get over to the college, and let my voice be heard at the, No Kings Rally, Stockton! I have a little peep voice, but I am sure Mark Ruffalo and Robert Di Nero would be proud that I am doing my part. I'm joking, of course, but frankly I'm proud we've decided to go! We are getting our chance to take a stand! I've been struggling with whether it really matters, in that we are basically in a cold WWIII? Does it matter if we never know when a miscalculation will occur, and kablooey... boy wasn't that a nice life we had? Does it matter if... WAIT... stop brain of mine, you know the answers to all the questions running through your head! The answers are EXACTLY why it matters! We have a madman in the White House. We have endured his behavior for over a decade. He has taken years off all our lives, without anyone brave enough to stop him! Folks have tried. Jack Smith tried. And we all know where we ended up.

But it didn't defeat us, and we can take our country back! We can! Thank GOD those who never backed down are still helping the rest of us fight back. Heroes every one of them. One such hero is Robert Di Nero. He keeps fighting. Recently, he was a guest on Nicolle Wallace's podcast, The Best People, with Nicolle Wallace, and I found his words about the times we are in inspiring! He sets a profound example of how we should be engaging regarding these unprecedented times we are in. Towards the end of the interview he talks a little about why he doesn't count on the word, "hope" anymore. I agree with him. Hope is one of those words we are taught from childhood to use as a crutch, or too ease our feelings. Hope doesn't work. Action works! So off I go, ready to do more than just hope! You know photos will come soon!

Thank you, Nicolle Wallace and Robert Di Nero, for fighting the good fight!

Say His Name... Alex Jeffrey Pretti

One Headline... Two Different Days

I don't have a witty quotes for today. I am tired, brokenhearted and really sad. And I admit I found it surreal that the New York Times had the same headline for, Saturday, and Sunday. Forgive me if this is a less than perfect post. History will remember this time, and will not look kindly on these assholes. Say his name, Alex Jeffrey Pretti. He was an ICU nurse at the V.A. hospital, in Minnesota. He was a son. And he was so much more, including a hero, for trying to save a woman who had been shoved to the ground by ICE agents.

He was the same age as Renee, Nicole Good... 37.

Autumn... The Election Season

“The Lord is my shepherd.
I shall not want for nothing.
He makes me lie down in the green pastures.
He greases up my head with oil.
He gives me kung-fu in the face of my enemies. Amen”

~Stephen King,

In case any rabid MAGA nutjob is reading that quote, and the words in this blog post, firstly, FUCK YOU, second, I believe the quote fits the not just the way I am feeling right now, but also the overall theme of this post.

 SO DEAL WITH IT!

We are planning on attending the, "No Kings" rally in Sacramento. We have decided we must take a bigger stand than bitching on social media! So, we are leaving the house early, and with blankets and sodas, and we are off to the event. Hopefully parking won't be a drama, and we can just focus on exercising our constitutional right to make our voices heard. It's called the First Amendment. It's precious, being it's being shattered, raped and degraded.

Soon, Trump will be sending ICE into San Francisco to threaten and intimate. All as an excuse to disparage one of the most beautiful cities America has to offer. It's a big city, so yes there has been crime, but the crime rate has been steadily falling for years now. It's nonsense to invade the city, based of the whims of Elon Musk, and other tech assholes. I live in the San Joaquin Valley, but San Francisco will always be my home. Trump is an unimaginable liar and I hope whatever photos I am able to get will reflect that.

Also, have you heard about this nonsense of putting him on a coin, with his likeness  after he was grazed by a bullet? And about that, why have we been given so little details about that day? It's clear something is being hid from us, shrug, I don't care enough about him to care, and yet at the same time, it's curious, isn't it? I don't deal in conspiracy theories, but with all the money he has made off that incident, it makes one wonder if it was actually all staged, but then it all went terribly wrong. Someone died. Remember that. Someone died.

Finally, I am going to be voting YES on Proposition 50! It's time we fought back against Trump's obvious rigging of the upcoming, 2026 midterms, which, of course, could and probably would, lead to the Republicans winning the White House again in 2028, all based on gerrymandering. I can't do much about all the political chicanery, but I can vote, I can attend protests, I can stay informed, and you can bet your ballot, I will do just that!

October Roses/ November Assholes

"The softened light, the veiling haze
The calm repose of autumn days
Steal gently o'er the troubled breast
Soothing life's weary cares to rest."

~Phoebe A. Holder
A Song Of October
The Queriers Magazine
October 1890

The last 24 hours should have been somewhat relaxing. We, my fellow democrats and I, should have been able to rest, because of the wonderful news of the Congress being won back by the Democratic party, but as I compose this post, Alan and I are planning on possibly attending a peaceful protest over the sudden, but not unexpected firing of Jeff Sessions! I never thought I would protest that in a milli on years, but with Tuesday's loss to the Democrats, Trump has further fallen, or jumped, down a rabbit hole and further into insanity! Dangerous times. Truly scary, and these times are doing nothing for the agoraphobia I have been fighting. I know, I know, why would I put myself at a protest, if I am afraid to leave the house, well, it feels a little like zip-lining, when you are scared to death of heights. Sometimes you just have to hang on tight and pray, to face your fears! And besides... it's about doing the right thing, whether it scares me or not! Fuck ME!

But for right now, before any decisions are made,
I just want to enjoy the beauty of these October roses I found last week. Aren't they absolutely beautiful?

October is such and agreeable month.
November only brings assholes.
