Leave The World Behind

Do you ever wake up one day, and think to yourself, I can't take one more day of humanity? I know I do, often. Like the character of Amanda, I have, at times, become weary of of being around people in 2026! Things are so selfish and scary. The glee and glow, for some Americans, comes not from living the American dream, but rather the thought that we would all be better off if a nice little civil war would take place, to save America from... us. This movie addresses one such path towards the end of the world, through frightening means. 

Strange happenings. Coincidences. Conspiracy theories and a sudden lack of connection to the outside world, and it's affect on an America used to being plugged in all the time! It all leads to the feeling of being on the outside looking in, all while feeling all to aware that life has gotten very, very, real when you weren't looking. The collection of eerie moments in this film are terrific, one such involved the arrival of an large container ship, on the shore of a pristine beach! Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawk are perfect as a couple who are almost polar opposites, but who used those differences to apply critical thinking to their new circumstances. Two different perspectives is a good thing!

But soon, it turns out to be about more then just them trying to figure it all out! Is it danger calling, help calling, or is it something eerily different?

I don't want to give it all away, so go watch the movie! There is a cool tie-in to the television show, Friends, so here is a little music that fits very well with the movie!

I suppose that death is also what happens to you when you are busy making other plans. Case in point, I have no idea if Mitch McConnell is alive or dead. I have my suspicions, but no way to prove it. Nobody can really prove anything about his health either way. Republicans, for the most part are assholes, so it might all be a giant distraction, a "PSYIC" at the democratic party, but it's really dark thing to do, and it's dumb. But it also might be that republicans are shitting themselves because the loss of McConnell will leave them even more vulnerable in the upcoming midterms especially with the recent death of Lindsey Graham. For right now, all we have is a few possible sightings to go on.

Jerry Fletcher is crazy! Or is he? Yes, Yes, I know it's a Mel Gibson movie, and I do, of course agree with you, he's horrible, but it's also a Julia Roberts movie, and she's kinda amazing, don't you think? Plus the story is one fun ride, and I don't think I want a common racist and Trump boot licker dictating what I can enjoy. Come for the art, stay for the artists who work really hard to make the art great! Anyway, about the film. It's from 1997, and it takes a good hard look at the viability and dangers of conspiracy theories in general. Once again it's a movie who walks the line on whether or not some theories might sometimes be accurate, but ignored because lets face it, about 99.9% are total bullshit! But this movie is worth watching. Jerry Fletcher goes on quite an odyssey, and along for the ride is Alice Sutton, an employee with the Justice department, who Jerry is in love with from afar. The theory pulls her in and eventually makes her a reluctant partner but, as it turns out, she has a lot riding on it also. It's a good movie that will make your head spin, and is much more than a movie that dick is in.  It's well worth a watch.

I have decided to ease back on all the movies I tend to watch over and over because the ease me into a state of anticipated bliss, in other words, my happy place. I am committing, like a New Year's resolution, to watch at least one movie a week that I have never seen. I decided to begin with, Bugonia. It's from 2025, and that's a good thing, because I usually immerse myself in movies from past eras, where I feel safe. Climbing into this movie, did not make me feel safe, and ooh boy, that was a good thing. 

There is so much to unpack in this film. Conspiracy theories, corporate greed, isolationism, environmental issues, and yes, whether or not there are alien overlords watching over us, but not necessarily in our best interests. Many different sides, opinions and perspectives will converge, so hold onto your hats, as it's quite a ride. If you are like me, you will change your mind about the issues and psychological mind bending as you take it all in. Critical thinking. In the end, you will feel... well... better about the lessons learned, because it's makes you consider where you stand. After yesterday, or the day before, will you see things differently?

Watch it! Considering the mind bending times we are living in, where are we, how did we get here, and is there a way out, or are we too confused to really pay attention to all the signs that say... watch and listen and take a stand!

Cognitive Problems

 

 

As part of proceedings for his divorce in 2012, claimed he had suffered "cognitive problems" after a worm consumed part of his brain. According to a recording of his deposition, he sought medical advice after fearing he was suffering form a brain tumor, only to be told a dark spot on scans was ...

Robert F. Kennedy jr., a man with no medical license or medical training in any way, was confirmed this morning as Secretary of Health and Human Services. A man who gets his medical opinions from fringe-right conspiracy theories, Influencers and citizen journalist opinions. Science can fuck off as far as he is concerned. He has said he wants a four year pause on the development of vaccines, even as we are seeing H5N1 spread to humans. He wants to eliminate Fluoride in tap water because, whatever. He thinks wifi causes cancer, and he has mentioned nothing about the fact that Measles has presented itself in several states, where unvaccinated children is at it's highest. What's the plan to fight it? Shame on the GOP congress!

They always lack any sort of evidence, and when you confront the nutjob spreading the bullshit you get responses like, "leading experts say..." and when they cannot produce any logical or believable argument, their "feelings" come into play. "I just know Joe  Biden stole the election." 

I am so sick of the bullshit. Funny how most conspiracy theories propagated by republicans, usually end with gullible people buying a,"Never Surrender" t-shirt that's made in China, and costs a mere $34.00! A steal! It never occurs to these people that he did exactly that, four times, and covering 91 felony charges? But by all means, arrest Dr. Fauci with no evidence of wrong doing on his part, and remember... wind turbines give you cancer, but I am sure all you have to do to cure it, is drink bleach! Don't believe me, just ask leading experts!

I was retired from political observation, right? Joe Biden being elected president would fix my need to drown myself in political scandal, intrigue, and tragedy... right? Okay, there would be the occasional hiccup, but that's to be expected. January 20th is the day I begin to heal from all I have feared the last 5 1/2 years. I will be able to sleep again. I'm going to take a six month nap, because the man who blew himself up on Christmas Day was a one-off. I will smile again. Sleep again. Eat without a pit in my stomach. No more feeling like I have to have MSNBC in every room that has a TV in it, because I am terrified that an idiot president might launch the nuclear codes.

*As it turns out, if we haven't gotten our second stimulus check, we more than likely won't. We will have to apply for a credit on our tax return. That wasn't part of the deal. I mean, how exactly does that stimulate the economy? It was such a small amount that we were planning on using it to pay the taxes anyway, but it would have been nice to be able to at least put it in the safe in case something bad happens between now and April 15th. Thanks Mnuchin. And Trump.

 

*GOP leader Kevin McCarthy went to Florida for an audience with Donald Trump. A couple weeks ago, McCarthy said Trump was to blame for the attack on the Capitol.

 

*The Justice Department is warning of violence breaking out, before, during or after the upcoming Impeachment trial.

 

*This past week, Donald Trump created, "Office Of The Former President." Which is a new one. Ordinarily, former presidents simply go away and enjoy the rest of their lives. Not Cheeto-Jesus. He is apparently planning to insinuate himself into our lives for sometime to come.

 

*Not to be outdone, Melania Trump hired two assistants yesterday, to help her continue her work with her "Be Best" campaign. Again, most first ladies go quietly about their lives, in civilian life, and allow the incoming first lady to handle her new duties and platform without interruption or competition for attention. 

 

Donald Trump's supporters continue to believe that Joe Biden stole the election. He didn't, but that's not good enough for the cultists. They truly believe the lie. They believe their leader, because that's what unstable folks do. They believe the lie at all costs. Jobs, family, friends, neighbors, life in general ceases to matter, just their leader and achieving their ultimate goals. In this case, human life appears to matter very little to these folks. The goal must happen at all costs. See, Jonestown, The Branch Dividian Church, or Heaven's Gate cults. None of them ended without bloodshed. And a lot of devastated families. Life has repeated itself too many times, in my lifetime, to not notice the similarities with the Trump cult.

 

Sigh.

 

I want to be wrong, but I am terrified. All I want is a quiet life. For some rest from the lunacy of the last four years, and to have a little hope that societal and political tensions will calm. Politics will always be batshit, and it's never been for the faint of heart, but the level of stress and fear I have felt have had a detrimental affect on not just my mental health, but on my physical health as well. I am scared to death that I will never be able to live my life, without a Trump, somewhere, affecting every single day. I just want it to be over, now that it is over.

 

This past week I got to rest. I read a little from a new book I purchased. We watched some movies. I ate a little better. I did some photography, and listened to some music. I started a new playlist on Spotify. Encouraged a friend. All that sounds great, right? But little by little the fear has crept back in, as more unfolds about what all is happening in our American existence. America is a dark place to live, and it's getting darker. Trump, and some of his minions are off social media, so at least Twitter is a lot nicer place to be, but the batshit just never stops, and it is a concern of mine, that for it to stop, something tragic will have to take place. I am afraid we are going to see another day like 9/11, and the powers that be on the right, see it coming too, but don't care, because they are still scared to death of Donald Trump.

 

So, what's a more than causal observer of politics to do? I can care, or I can be the person who refuses see the unpleasantness so they can look away. Well, if those are my choices, you know where I fall. I have never been able to ignore politics. When I see the rise of fascism, the granting of credibility to conspiracy theories and attempted coups of America, how exactly do I look away? I can't. But I may try to find some balance. After all, Trump isn't in power... Biden is. I have my reading. My venting here. Autumn images. And I have my bird watching. All things I am currently enjoying. Although, bird watching is probably my favorite of the activities I mentioned. Sigh. The problem is, some days I feel like I am just barely hanging on by a blue egret.

The last few days have been sufficiently, macabre. I haven't bothered to write about current events in ages, mostly because current events no longer take place in the quaint old fashioned way of bits, bites, and booms that tended to randomly occur over days, weeks, or months. Instead, we now have hourly events of bytes booms and bangs, thanks in no small part to Twitter, and the charmingly loose senile orange toddler with nuclear devices as his only friends... no not the biscuit or football... but rather his damn mouth and Twitter fingers, Donald John Trump. 

That's right. The woman who bitched. Pissed. Moaned. Groaned. Spit, and generally lost her shit about every move made by George W. Bush, finally gave up. Trump broke me. I decided to let history keep track of life in the political world, because I simply couldn't keep up with whatever shocking misstep, intellectual fart, or social fuck-up he produced, let alone follow the endless line of cabinet miscreant slam dancing, he demanded be choreographed in the White House, and sometimes near the White House, at any given moment, on any given day. Enough! I had some depression to nurture! It's not like Bush made me any younger. And as for Obama... he made me lazy. Life was reasonably boring, quiet and non-eventful with him as president.

But enough of the reminiscing, and onto the macabre event that sent me back to blogging, if only for this post. History will remember the name, Jeffrey Epstein, like it has remembered the names of so many other notorious evil spirits of the past. History will unite him forever with other convicted pedophiles, and for what he was most recently charged with, human trafficking of under-aged girls. History will remember that he apparently provided many powerful men with these girls, which will forever unite those men with him. You are the company you keep! 

Prime Ministers. Kings. Presidents. Governors. And Donald Trump kept close company with Epstein. Many men visited Epstein's private island and flew in his airplane and private helicopter. He owned an apartment in Trump Tower, and partied often with Donald Trump. Does that act alone prove guilt of pedophilia? Does it mean any man on the list engaged in anything illegal? No, but I assume absolute proof, one way or the other, will be provided beyond a doubt one day. As the women come forward, and point directly at these men, it will all be laid bare, for all to see, but when it does, it will have to be without Jeffrey Epstein, because he was found unresponsive in his cell last Saturday morning, and later declared dead.

At the moment it's being called an apparent suicide. But there are folks on both sides of the political aisle, who want it to be murder so bad they can taste the dead body in their mouths. Conspiracy theories abound! Hillary must have done it! COUNT THE CLINTON MURDER VICTIMS! A.G. BARR DID IT TO SAVE TRUMP! "Jeffrey was scared, so he killed himself." "The guards hated pedophiles, so they did it." Twitter, was all atwitter, Sunday night, with the possibilities. Not much consideration given to his victims and what comes next for them, however, just one macabre theory after another about a dead man, with pictures of his lifeless, slightly cyanotic body lying on a gurney in a hospital in Manhattan, to provide proof that something happened on the second Saturday in August, In The Year Of Our Lord, 2019.

Be careful... if you aren't keeping up on these things,  you should know you will suddenly be crept up on, not by the Krampas, but by the invisible specter of consumerism, and good tidings expressed, that rob us of the true meaning of Christmas! Sarah Palin knows of this danger, as does the grandfather of jitters Bill O'Reilly. 

They both wrote the book on it dontcha-know? These are scary ass times people... be scared... be very scared... should a stranger wish you a fond HAPPY HOLIDAYS, because, Oh-GOOD-LORD-DONTCHA-KNOW, it will certainly one of those Heathen-Socialist-Communist-Liberal-PC-Considerate-Left Wing-Democratic-Tree Hugging- (And I don't mean an O'Christmas tree) -Weed Smoking-Obamaites trying to diminish Christmas by acknowledging your existence in a pseudo pleasant manner! WINK!

Don't BE FOOLED! Christmas is in DANGER of being destroyed by all the Happy Holiday's banners, and the subtle messages of that HOPE thing that can be found on the prettiest of wrapping paper and greeting cards. It's diabolical I Tells ya! Just stop into the Hallmark section of ANY Walmart store and you will see it right there! You know, I would like to see Sister Sarah and Brother Bill picket a Walmart and expose them for their hypocrisy!  I should encourage that! Everyone needs a little encouragement... right? You GO BILL AND SARAH!
