Yep, Still Alive, But...

"Politicians are people who,
when they see the light at the end of the tunnel,
they go out and buy more tunnel."

~John Quinton

Donald Trump For President? Huh? Last summer when I heard he was ready to run for president, I was kind of shocked, then I laughed, rolled my eyes and said... "Yes! Finally something is going right! This should be highly entertaining! At the time, I was in a crappy hotel room in Turlock, California, which isn't terribly surprising, because Turlock, California, is one big crap heap! If you visit there, the three sights you will see most often are, rednecks, and their tank topped significant others, cockroaches, and cows. Occasionally you might also encounter hairy spiders the size of a redneck's fist, but I am told that is somewhat of a rarity. The day I encountered one, I was told that the particular type of spider I encountered mostly live in trees. Great... a tree dwelling spider. Fun. I wondered if it could fly, and then for the next couple weeks always wore a hat when venturing out of the hotel room.LOL. Like Donald Trump's run for the presidency, after the initial shock and fear wore off, it eventually became funny. I can laugh now, but at the time it was high drama!

Fast forward to the present. I have a fun memory I can relive and share here on Ellipsis, and that makes me happy. I like having a blog. I like to share things with you. I like it when you leave your opinions on things I talk about. I really do. I must because as of next August, I will have been blogging 13 years! We are in an election year, a national election year, which is exciting to me because I am a hopeless political nerd! I love reading about politics, studying it's history, and I even enjoy reading about politicians biographies. I like finding out why things happen, not that there is always an answer, but sometimes if I can just get a little insight I feel better about things. You know what I mean?

Well, I have spent a lot of time doing just that! So much so that I have caused myself some nerve damage in my right hand from Carpal Tunnel syndrome. The doctor says I need to spend less time obsessing on Sarah Palin and more time resting my hand or the damage will a permanent condition. My right hand is numb most of the time now, and when it isn't it has pain shooting up to my shoulder, and I did it to myself. But jeeze... how am I supposed to NOT make fun of that snowbeast Sarah Palin? Since she hit the national political stage she has made me cringe, and when I take it too seriously, I have to let it out! And now, after Donald Trump promised her a position in his administration, should he win, I am less amused with her, and more frightened that it might actually happen! Yikes. She is amusing, but more than anything, she is dangerous and it really isn't funny, so I need to talk about it, even if no one agrees with me, or visits my blog.

So, I have to take some real time off from online activities, when I hand tries to heal yet again. I am taking my doctors advice and giving the blogging a rest. I am going to take my pal Jeff's idea and look into Dragon speech software. And I have decided to post to my blog twice a month, when I am online anyway to pay bills. I will check in, let you know I am okay, and update you on my hand's progress. I don't want to have long term damage, so I have to listen to the doctor. My future blogging schedule will be as follows...

Back full time in June.

The month of June is my goal. It's also when California holds its primary. I can't miss that! And let's face it, this summer is going to be amazing! Election season, and all the amazing things to go and do and see! But really... nothing invigorates me like a good political fight! I am still a bit on the fence about my candidate. Hillary is someone I trust completely to handle women's issues, but Bernie has a proven track record also. I would like to have a woman lead, because let's face it, woman approach things completely different then men do. I think having her elected might just change the way women are treated in the workplace, and maybe, just maybe, women will finally make what men do for doing the same job! It's time for a woman! But Bernie really appeals to the progressive inside me. It's a touch decision. One thing I do know... I won't be ordering any campaign merchandise until after the primary! In the past, every time I did... my candidate imploded into a big ball of gone. Just ask John Edwards, the day after I ordered that cute little refrigerator magnet!

:)

See you February 14th!

The Boehner Of Their Existence

"If a man harbors any sort of fear,
it makes him landlord to a ghost."

~Lloyd Douglas

Forget Halloween, the world of American politics is plenty scary these days! Can you feel surprised, and not surprised at the same time? Because I have been feeling that way when it comes to the latest Washington doings, specifically in regards to John Boehner and the issue of who will replace him as Speaker of the House. I was genuinely surprised when Boehner stepped down as speaker, and truth be told, I felt sorry for him. I really thought when he rose to that position, he would be strong enough to serve, well, until things changed through the people's voice. I never thought in a million years he would resign the office due to pressure from the wingnuts in the GOP, AKA the Tea Party teabaggers, and their demands for the selfish and unreasonable. You know... things like shutting down the government until we make Dixie the national anthem, and Sarah Palin their Goddess.

His resignation wasn't good for anyone, but lets be clear, I am not a fan of Boehner. Nope. But he did have something going for him, he was a Reagan republican, meaning he didn't go about bashing members of his own party, and he did the best he could to represent all of the GOP, and not just the agendas of a few, crazy, unreasonable, selfish individuals. I think the time of the true Reagan republican has probably come to an end. Since the rise of Sarah Palin to the national stage, we have seen a dark time in America. The age of the stupid and mean spirited agenda is upon us. It's never again going to be enough to have accomplished something, no, now you have to have a political kill on your resume, even, and sometimes especially, if the kill is within the GOP's own party. And the GOP has no one to blame for this current predicament but themselves.

They built the house of cards that will come down upon them.

It also didn't much surprise me when House Majority leader, Kevin McCarthy, took himself out of the running for replacing Boehner. He, again, is a lot like Boehner in political style, and in his speech yesterday, he hinted strongly that his decision to step back was based at least partially because he wasn't willing to bow to the far right of his party, when it comes to the fight over the debt ceiling. The Tea Party has already said they would not support Boehner or anyone else who votes to raise the debt ceiling again, which means, in effect, they plan to shut the government down when the vote comes up again in December.

Sigh.

The ignorance is simply unbelievable. The possible damage will be deep, and far reaching, and once it happens it will be devastating and difficult to repair. America will never be the same again, and when it happens it will happen to all of us, not just those who hunger for the downfall that's coming! I fear watching that devastation. I hate that those selfish tea party politicians are serving themselves, while deceiving their own constituents into thinking they are representing their best interests. After it happens, and the devastation is felt by all, their every day voting supporters will see them for what they are. I hope. But I do wonder what will happen when the Tea Partiers in office finally realize the consequences of what they are about to do? Will they suddenly grow a conscience? Or is it possible that the ghost of Ronald Reagan visit them in the middle of the night just prior to the debt ceiling vote and warn them of the imminent visitation of 3 more ghosts of the past, present and future?

Who knows?

All I know is these are scary times. And their is a lot to fear.
And that means ghosts are everywhere!

Hold on, it's going to be a bumpy, scary ride!

How Did It Get So Late So Soon?

"How did it get so late, so soon?"

~ Dr. Suess

Alan worked his regular 8 hour shift yesterday, plus 4 hours. He came home, and we had pizza, and watched a documentary on Sarah Palin, that I highly recommend by the way, called,
Sarah Palin: You Betcha! It's available from Netflix, so if you haven't seen it, and you have Netflix... scoot... skedaddle... go see it! But, be prepared, it's some scary stuff, and is mostly told to film maker, Nick Broomfield, by the folks who actually lived through the experience that is Sarah Palin. It's a cautionary tale of ruthless ambition, fundamental Christianity and destructive politics, each at it's most dangerous. It's probably nothing you haven't heard before about Mrs. Palin, but when the actual words are coming from the mouths of people who have felt the wrath of Palin first hand, it's positively bone-chilling. Particularly when you consider the ridiculous brawl that took place in Alaska last September, and how quiet everything got in the days and weeks afterward.

It was widely published at the time, a man who attended the party, Eric Thompson, which was held at the home of Korey Klingenmeyer, his boss, at McKenna Paving, lost his job almost immediately after he spoke out to ABC News, regarding the Palin's part in the fight. Mckenna Paving, is owned by Matt and Marc McKenna, the men whose birthday's were being celebrated at the party. He was rehired at some point later, perhaps around the time the tapes made by police, the night of the party, were released to the media. Apparently, for sometime following the altercation, Korey Klingenmeyer considered filing assault charges against Bristol Palin, who is said to have punched him in the face several times. But in the end, as always, suddenly everything went silent, and if you watch the movie, you will see why. Sometimes I don't know whether to think of Sarah Palin as one big joke, or evil incarnate. All I know is, as good as the documentary was, I don't recommend watching it on a night when you lose an hour of sleep... you will lose enough sleep as it is!

The Predictability Of A Plain White Dinner Roll

The Predictability Of The Plain White Dinner Roll

When It Comes To Sarah Palin,
The Most Disingenuous Question Asked Most Often Is...
 Why All The Hate?
A couple weeks ago, I had a moment of shock and awe. Sarah Palin, the onetime darling of the far right had made a surprise appearance at the 40th Anniversary of Saturday Night Live, and engaged in a mildly amusing sketch with Jerry Seinfeld. It was basically a tease about how much, Loren Michaels, might or might not, be prepared to pay Sarah to run for the presidency in 2016. Like I said... it was amusing, and I found the sketch less a knee slapper and more of a cute expected moment, given the amount of jokes SNL has made at Sarah's expense over the years. The shock and awe wasn't at the predictable joke, but rather at what Sarah showed up wearing to the shindig. In an earlier post I ranted a bit about the outfit, of which she completely lifted from her daughter Bristol's closet. And I shared my opinion on whether or not it's a good idea to go about wearing clothing designed with a much younger woman in mind.

It stinks, but we ladies of 50 and older need to cover things up, whether or not we are "hot." I hate it, I wish it wasn't true, but it is. IT JUST IS. Fortunately, we ladies have many, many ways of putting our best foot forward, while maintaining some fashion dignity. We have designers now, that our mothers never had, and fashion for ladies our age has evolved to show us in our best light, again while maintaining some dignity. But enough about that. What this post is about has nothing to do with that outfit per se, what it does have to do with is the inexplicable question about why Sarah Palin is hated so much, a question asked of me after a Tweet I wrote about the now famous white dress she wore that night, particularly by someone such as myself who dares to share a negative opinion regarding anything she does.

First of all, let's get something straight... I didn't always hate Sarah Palin. Even now, as I write this, I wonder if it isn't more accuate to say, I don't hate Sarah Palin the woman, I hate the things Sarah Palin the woman says and does! But isn't what you say and do the best example of who and what you are? Maybe. Maybe not. I will let you decided if you think I hate the woman, that's up to you, but I think I would also like you to consider the fact that more than anything I don't understand the her. I don't understand someone who throws extraordinary chances, opportunites, and goals away, opting for shortcuts to nowhere, verbal digs, and lazy excuses. Instead of finding her own voice, she rides the coattails of Bill O'Reilly, by writing a book, similar to his, regarding the ridiculous notion that there is some kind of war on Christmas. Instead of taking a step back, after the abysmal 2008 campaign, did she take a little time to educate herself in the areas she had trouble with? No she bashed Katie Couric for being unfair, by asking her the simplest of questions... "WHAT DO YOU READ TO STAY INFORMED?"

Allow me to share a fuller picture of the many things about Sarah Palin I don't understand. Just a series of questions really, that if I had the answer to, I might understand the woman better.

1. She has five beautiful children, yet each of them seemed to have nothing but bitter and perpetually disrespectful attitudes.

There is plenty of evidence to support this. From Bristol teaching her child to say homophobic things, to the ridiculous physical fight they engaged in at a friend's birthday party last September.

2. Sarah Palin, and her family, live in one of the most beautiful, majestic places on earth. They could be champions for conservation and the natural beauty that is Alaska. So, with the shocking way Global Warming (Climate Change) is affecting the planet, and specifically Alaska, you would think they would be leading the cause of preserving the natural wilderness around them, so why isn't she?

3. Sarah Palin's youngest child has Down Syndrome. He is a beautiful child, and clearly loved deeply, so why hasn't Sarah, used at least some of her time, since 2008, to do anything to bring awareness to the Down Syndrome community? She, again, has the chance to be a champion, and yet her silence is deafening.

4. If she hates the liberal media so much, why does she make appearances on culturally significant programs such as Saturday Night Live?

It really comes of as hypocritical to bash something and then turn around and embrace it. I wonder how that might feel to her supporters?

5. Why doesn't she form a specific, well informed series of opinions on the issues she cares about?

Sarah Palin has been given chance after chance, across different platforms, to distinguish herself and bring her own opinions, and world views to light. But instead of actually doing that, she uses her time, such as on her latest venture, The Sarah Palin Channel, to spout nonsensical digs at the left, and share nothing of any real value as to how to fix the problems we are all facing. Her speeches are just one snide dig after another, but no real solutions, at at times characterized, even by some of her most staunch supporters as incoherent. Sometimes it seems like what she is really doing with that channel is simply using it for bitching, we all do from time to time, about things out of our control. That makes her understandably human, except most of us don't charge $9.95 a month to our subscribers.

In my opinion, why ask folks to pay for something, namely her recycled opinions on any given subject, that can pretty much be found anywhere on the net for free. Who doesn't know, by now, how Sarah Palin feels about President Obama's policies? And yet, can you tell me what her policy is on dealing with... oh say... North Korea? How about how she would put people back to work... specifically? How about Infrastructure? What would Mrs. Palin do about fixing our roads and bridges? Where in the grand scheme of things would she even prioritize the problem of infrastructure? How about the homeless, of which about 50% are veterans, how would she get them the physical, mental and practical help they deserve?
There's no need to go on... is there?

I don't understand why she doesn't educate herself. I don't understand how she can carry on with the attitude that if she just bullshits her way through the toughest of questions, she will be fine. We both know, you and I, that it's not enough to have a random answer to the questions in our lives... you must know when you give the answer why you feel the way you do, and a clear idea how to move forward with it. As I sit here, the whole thing makes me terribly sad. Sarah Palin has so much potential. She has had the world in her hands, she could be a beacon of real hope, she could be a leader of the conservative party, and yes, on a minor scale she had an opportunity to show up at the SNL 40th Anniversary special, dressed appropriate for the occasion, and set a fashionable example for conservative woman all over the country. But she couldn't be bothered to go shopping, her daughter Bristol reasoned.

Several days after the whole "DressGate" thing settled down, Bristol Palin came to her mother's defense on her blog, saying her mother looked hot and no one should be caring about what she wore. Well, here's the thing, the situation didn't keep me up nights, but I do feel bad that apparently Sarah never learned, and therefore is not teaching her children that how you dress, and your appearance, is what people know first about you. Before you open your mouth, people see your clothes and how you carry yourself. That's why we are encouraged to dress for special circumstances, with respect for our audience. Imagine Sarah Palin's impression on the world, had she stepped onto the national stage, dressed in Daisy Dukes and a crop top! Funny isn't it? Or is it sad? Sarah Palin was invited to the SNL 40th Anniversary special, and rather than showing it the proper respect it deserved, she went for the shortcut. She decided put as little effort into the opportunity as she could, while once again, basking in the attention that she claims to dislike so much, by the people she blames for her negative reviews. If for no other reason, I would have thought she would have wanted to dress nicely to put her best foot forward!

It's never Sarah Palin's fault.

She is as predictable as a plain white dinner roll.

Idiosyncrasies

"Trendy is the last stage before tacky."
 ~Karl Lagerfeld

 WTF?

No seriously, what the FUCK?

What was Sarah Palin thinking, wearing her daughter's dress, right out of the closet, to the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary celebration? My first thought was that perhaps she was trying to follow in the footsteps of another tacky reality star, Kris Jenner, of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Kris has been seen many times in "borrowed" clothes that belong to her daughters. Sometimes the clothes have worked well for the Kardashian "Momager," but more often than not, it just comes off sad. It makes me want to say... Kris, Kris, Kris... get your own style! And by the way, there is no disgrace in not only acting your age, but dressing your age as well! Stop making yourself a punchline, and set a style example for other women your age! Go ahead... be the style setter, not a style joke! And that is what I find so frustrating about both Kris Jenner, and Sarah Palin in general, they have all kinds of rare opportunities in the palm of their hands, and they will throw them away every single time!

When Sarah Palin hit the national stage, I admired her style, as far as her clothing was concerned. I had no idea until sometime later that, in fact, she was being dressed by her political handlers and not by her own personal style choices. Never mind who chose the clothes, she looked good in them, and she was beginning to not just be recognized strong self assured politician, but a strong style example for women our age group. It wasn't meant to be however, because like with everything else she touches, she brought a distasteful spin to it, for no other reason than to give a voice to her inner bitter middle-age political wanna-be. To admit style is to apparently have all your values mixed up, and we can't have down home Sarah doing that! So... style sense be gone... simple Sarah is on the case!

Of course true style doesn't have to mean expensive labels. A pair of jeans, a cozy sweater, just the right pair of boots, I would avoid American flag shit kickers, but that's just me, and you are good to go. Again, dressing your age is a good idea, pick up a Vogue, or consult wonderful websites like Rachel Zoe, In-Style, Stylist or even Pure Wow, as they can give a lot of guidance on what will make you shine, and be at your best when it most matters. Hey, there are plently of blogs where all you have to do is put the event that your are going to, into the search engine, and out will pop several examples of what to wear. I have been reading Vogue since I got my first job, and now I know the difference between what I like, verses, what actually looks good on me, and what will make the proper statement.

If my mother would have taken a cocktail dress out of my closet when I was 25, and wore it to a media event, I would have been mortified! I feel a bit sorry for the Kardashian girls, and Bristol in particular when it comes to that dynamic. While the Karhashian girls may have become numb to the idiosyncrasies of mom Kris, this must have been a new hell for Bristol. It couldn't have felt good to see her mom in that dress, but on the other hand, maybe she got a secret jolly out of seeing her mother look ridiculous... who knows? Sarah has kinda stolen some of Bristol's thunder over the years, although I am sure Bristol wouldn't admit that. Shrug. Again, who knows? What I do know is that the choice of dress was bizarre, and for the life of me I can't understand why Sarah wouldn't have wanted to make her own style statement that night.

Again, This Is To Forego A Conclusion, Right?

"The man can only ride you when you are on your back."

~Sarah Palin
Speaking at the Iowa Freedom Summit
January 24th 2015

Last Friday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, told ABC News that "You can absolutely say that I am seriously interested," when asked if she was considering a run for presidency in 2016. Is she? I mean, if she is, how well does she think she will do in a field of candidates with the likes of Christ Christie, Rand Paul, Mitt Romney, hell maybe even John McCain, but if there truly is a GOD, will also include Donald Trump? Can she run on her... ahem... merits alone, or will she have to dig up the kind of dirt on her opponents that is needed to knock them out of the race. Could she possibly face John McCain in a debate, and set about bashing the war hero by calling him soft on terrorism by pointing out that he considers water boarding torture? Will she be the one to finally reveal what that thing on Donald Trump's head really is? And what about the fine folks in the heartland who actually live in reality?

You know the ones... the GOD fearing ones? The true patriots that live in the far right thinking pockets of America. You know the good, and easily lead, people who pay roughly $99 a year to listen to her babble and watch her nifty video blogging on her vanity channel. And the ones who tune in weekly to her reality show, Sarah Palin's Amazing America. Will they be there for her when she can't speak from the heart, of her own values and stand on issues, should the teleprompter she is reading from fail, like the one did at the summit over the weekend? Will they be there for her, when it finally dons on people, that she doesn't know what she thinks, she just tries to be folksy, and go with the buzz words, which kinda amounts to throwing jello at a wall, and hoping some of it sticks. But maybe that will be good enough for her followers. Rome wasn't built in a day, dontcha know!

I have to admit, there is a part of me that genuinely hopes our Sarah does indeed run for president. I want to see her in the debates. I want to see her win. I want to see her go up against either Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren in the final debate. I do. I want to hear American, once again decided that while we might be a country of crazies... we aren't THAT DAMNED CRAZY! I want her name to be at the top of the republican ticket, with Ted Nugent! Yes, you read that right, TED NUGENT for Vice President! Hell YEAH! And more than anything else, I want to watch her take the stage, some time late in the evening, of the first Tuesday in November 2016, and concede that America doesn't want, or need her on their side. And then, if there is a GOD, she will slither away, never to be heard of again. But let's finish the story... about 5 years later, the Wasilla Penny Saver needs to do a follow up to the crazy that is Sarah Palin, just to see how the old girl is doing.

You fill in the rest. Look into the future and tell me, what will Sarah Palin be up to in 2021?

Cray-Cray For The Holiday

"Don't spoil Christmas Day by anticipating how it will be.
Let it unfold as it does and be grateful for whatever comes."

~Toni Sorenson

Have you heard the drums yet? Oh I don't mean the little drummer boy playing his drum for the baby Jesus, I mean the war cry alerting us to the WAR ON CHRISTMAS! Be careful... if you aren't keeping up on these things,  you should know you will suddenly be crept up on, not by the Krampas, but by the invisible specter of consumerism, and good tidings expressed, that rob us of the true meaning of Christmas! Sarah Palin knows of this danger, as does the grandfather of jitters Bill O'Reilly.

They both wrote the book on it dontcha-know? These are scary ass times people... be scared... be very scared... should a stranger wish you a fond HAPPY HOLIDAYS, because, Oh-GOOD-LORD-DONTCHA-KNOW, it will certainly one of those Heathen-Socialist-Communist-Liberal-PC-Considerate-Left Wing-Democratic-Tree Hugging- (And I don't mean an O'Christmas tree) -Weed Smoking-Obamaites trying to diminish Christmas by acknowledging your existence in a pseudo pleasant manner! WINK!

Don't BE FOOLED! Christmas is in DANGER of being destroyed by all the Happy Holiday's banners, and the subtle messages of that HOPE thing that can be found on the prettiest of wrapping paper and greeting cards. It's diabolical I Tells ya! Just stop into the Hallmark section of ANY Walmart store and you will see it right there! You know, I would like to see Sister Sarah and Brother Bill picket a Walmart and expose them for their hypocrisy!  I should encourage that! Everyone needs a little encouragement... right? You GO BILL AND SARAH!

 Don't Be Fooled!

The WAR ON CHRISTMAS IS HELL!

There, I have done my part for the war effort!

Now, if we are all done with the cray-cray...
I have a shitload of shopping to do!

Oh and well wishing to express!

Happy Holidays!

And now, this tree hugger presents...

What To Say?

"In the old days, it was not called the Holiday Season; the Christians called it 'Christmas' and went to church; the Jews called it 'Hanukkah' and went to synagogue; the atheists went to parties and drank. People passing each other on the street would say 'Merry Christmas!' or Happy Hanukkah!' or (to the atheists) 'Look out for the wall!"

~Dave Barry

Talk about taking the focus off of the true meaning of the holidays! How about stirring up a falsehood about the fictional war on Christmas? Every year since that particular bee flew into Bill O'Reilly's bonnet, we have the conservative right claiming to anyone who would listen, all 4 of them, that there is an all out war on Christmas! And now, because she can't seem to come up with an original idea or observation of her own, Sarah Palin has joined the pack of rabid elephants, sounding the warning cry, just like Paul Revere did before her, "by ringing them bells and firing those warning shots" and proclaiming, you'll never take our Red Ryder BB Gun! In fact, here is an excerpt from Sarah Palin's book, regarding guns, and her present to husband Todd on Christmas 2012...

*"Last year, however, I think I was able to pull off a good one for him. To combat the anti-gun chatter coming from Washington, I surprised him with a nice, needed, powerful gun. I then asked him for a metal gun holder for my four-wheeler. Not only was this small act of civil disobedience fun, it allowed me to finally live out one of my favorite lines from a county song: "he's got the rifle, I got the rack."

~Sarah Palin, from her book, Good Tidings and Great Joy

Doesn't that just about say  Merry Christmas in the most joyous of ways? She didn't pick out a gift that said, I love you. She didn't choose a gift that reminded Todd of their lives together, or their many blessings. She didn't even consider a gift that reminded him of the simple joys we all have in our lives, most of which can be found just be looking around us. No, she bought Todd a gift that said, FUCK YOU CHILDREN OF SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY, I FIND MY JOYS IN PANDERING TO THE SPECIAL INTERESTS OF THE NRA!

Jesus Is The Reason For The Season! Don't ya know?

I don't know about you, but after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, I didn't really feel in the Christmas spirit. I didn't feel in the holiday spirit... or New Year's spirit for that matter! I did do a lot of crying, and signing of petitions, to hopefully put an end to the gun craziness. I prayed that our president and vice president, would finally do something about the Assault Weapons ban. Both men promised to try, both men failed. And relatively speaking, I have heard very little, at least less than I would like, about it since the middle of the year. Poor President Obama... he can't get anything done! At least that's his traditional cop-out. There... I said it!

Look, I am feeling better this year, and this week Alan and I are going to put up the Christmas tree and the yard decorations, life goes on. But for GOD'S sake, and that of the baby Jesus, while we are on the subject, can someone please shut Sarah Palin up for another 27 days or so? Nothing violent of course, just maybe the media could stop covering ever stupid syllable that falls randomly from her uneducated sour mouth. Maybe someone could explain to her that writing a book, about the joys of the holidays, and then fixating on everything that's wrong with people who embrace peace, is nothing more than shameless self promotion and commercialism at it's most vile.

I don't actually believe that there is an accurate word for anyone who would put a FALSE IDOL like a gun, before the safety of a child, but if you can't think of one, feel free to share in this comment thread. All I ask is that it's a real word, and you back up why you believe it to be accurate. It's not enough to know how you feel, you must know why you feel it. Think it through... don't be a Sarah Palin! And whatever you do, embrace this time of year, in your own way, but please consider all the free and simple blessings available every day.

There is NO war on Christmas. There is however people who will use the season to garner attention, and a buck, for themselves. And by the way, commercialism is exactly as commercial as you make it! You, and only you, have the power to control that! If you feel Sarah's book is the niftiest thing since the Bible, then by all means buy it, and give it to anyone and everyone. But, if buying presents annoys you, make gifts! Think for yourself!

 Now... HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

NOTE: As of today, Sarah Palin's book is #615 and has 2 1/2 Stars from Amazon reviews.

A Photo A Day For 6 Months: Day 69~ Here Ghostie, Ghostie, Ghostie

"An idea, like a ghost, must be spoken to a little before it will explain itself."

~Charles Dickens

And the Fibromyalgia pain continues. So, tonight I thought it would be fun to just sharing a little about what is probably the strangest item on my Bucket List, my desire to see a ghost one day, better yet, to actually photograph a ghost. Yep. A ghost.

Why a ghost?

Well, why not a ghost?

It's not to become famous, although why photograph a ghost and then not share it with the world? On the other hand, if I did manage to capture a specter, I would also be very tempted to keep it to myself. I think that would be a rather personal and profound thing. I would be a little caught up in what the ghost thought of me. Did the ghost connect with me on some level? Did the ghost like me. Hate me? Did the ghost appear to anyone who sought it out? There are some questions above and beyond the immediate. I think that good ghost or bad ghost, the entity deserves respect. People, live people that is, rarely seem to put much thought into what comes after the sighting.

I have seen some things in my 50 years. Not all of which I can fully explain. I do know, however, there is a certain responsibility to things beyond this life. Respect should always be the first step. After I am gone, if I do end up being earthbound, I don't want to be one of those cheesy... "GET OUT"... ghosts. I want to be a... HI LIVE PERSON, SIT DOWN AND I WILL TELL YOU ALL ABOUT. "It" being whatever they want to ask me. LOL. Call it the top item on my After Life Bucket List. Of course if my sense of humor follows me into the beyond, I could also see myself as a prankster. I would probably mess with the ghost hunters by wispering something stupid like... SARAH PALIN SUCKS MOOSE ANTLERS. LOL. Can you imagine?

Ghostie Me: Sarah Palin Sucks Moose Antlers.

Ghostie Hunter: Ohh.. The spirit seems to be saying... Sarah Palin Suck Moose Antlers?

Ghostie Hunter: Clearly what we have here is an Intelligent haunting!

Ohh... how about... MacArthur Park Is Melting In The Dark (Worst Song Ever)

You gotta admit... it would leave them guessing. LOL

When I leave this current existence I have here, I would like to be cremated and my "remains" GOD I HATE THAT WORD... "Remains" put into a strong ziploc bag and sewn up into a teddy bear. Alan thinks that creepy, but who hasn't wanted to be a teddy bear... now I ask you?

Yes... I would like to see a ghost. Probably. Well... I mean... sure. Right?

Hmmm...

So how about you? Anyone wanna go ghost hunting? And what about orbs? Personally, I don't buy it. Dust. It's dust I tells ya!

Opinions Please.

Poor Sarah

Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength" from Sarah Palin on Vimeo.

"It may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: 'Sit down and shut up,' but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out." --Sarah Palin, announcing her resignation as governor, July 3, 2009

This woman is DANGEROUS... but you already knew that. This woman is, at best, INSENSITIVE... but you already knew that. This woman doesn't understand THE WORLD... but you already knew that. This woman has NO regard for the EARTH or for LIFE... but you already knew that. This woman has ALIGNED HERSELF WITH AND GLORIFIED VIOLENCE IN ALL ASPECTS OF HER PERSONAL AND PUBLIC LIFE, but you already knew that. This woman is IRRESPONSIBLE with her WORDS AND HER ACTIONS... but you already knew that. This woman represents the very worst of the human condition... but you already knew that.

Sarah Palin truly believes that words have no meaning. Unless SHE is the one speaking. She believes that all her troubles stem from a liberal media who either misquotes her, or, in her words, commits a "blood liable" against her. As a Jewish person, I find her use of that phrase hurtful and unfortunate.

Poor Sarah... the world doesn't understand her pain. Poor Sarah... the world doesn't understand her need for attention. Poor Sarah... the world doesn't understand her.

I suppose she didn't hear that it wasn't just the "liberal media" in America who connected HER WORDS to the events of last Saturday, indeed the world's newspapers made the connection as well.

She poses for photo ops with guns. In mid November, 2008, just after she lost her bid for the vice presidency, she stood in front of a turkey being slaughtered at a turkey farm, and talked about how much fun it was to be there. On her TLC reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" she clubs fish, with her young daughter, laughing the entire time she clubs them. On a different episode of her show, she is seen shooting a caribo 5 times. On a map, which she displayed on her website, she put sights over the home bases of politicians she hoped to see unseated. One of the targets was Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. The map was removed from her website over the weekend, after the shooting of Giffords, and was explained away as not gun sights, but rather surveyor sights.

Wasn't it Judge Judy who said, "Don't piss down my leg and tell me it's raining."

Notice of the maps violent characteristic came up when she first displayed the map, and at NO TIME did she say it wasn't a gun sight, in fact, she tweeted a short time later: "Don't retreat, Reload." That has NOTHING TO DO WITH A SURVEYOR'S MAP. That refers to using a GUN.

It's been a few days since the shooting in Arizona, and while there has been nothing to directly tie the shooter to Sarah Palin, I stand by my original belief that HER WORDS MATTER! HER ACTIONS MATTER. IF SHE CONTINUES GLORIFYING VIOLENCE IT WILL SPEAK TO THOSE WHO FOLLOW HER BLINDLY AND SOMEONE WILL ACT OUT AGAINST ANOTHER IN HER NAME. It WILL happen. And she still won't hold any responsibility, because she HIDES behind that.

Sarah Palin is a COWARD... but you already knew that.

Now, imagine AMERICA in the hands of a COWARD.

"Dr. Laura: don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence "isn't American, not fair")" --Sarah Palin, in a Twitter message coming to the defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the talk radio host who apologized and decided to retire from her highly-rated program after using the N-word on the air 11 times in 5 minutes, Aug. 18, 2010

Poor Sarah Palin... so misunderstood. Poor Charles Manson... so misunderstood. Poor Jim Jones... so misunderstood. Poor David Koresh... so misunderstood. Poor Marshall Applewhite... so misunderstood. Poor Hitler... so misunderstood. Poor Jim Crow.... so misunderstood.

Sarah Palin had a REAL opportunity to bring intelligent thought and dialog to the country. She could have admitted her words had consequence. She could have made the decision to no longer bring images of violence and hatred to the forefront of American politics, and vow to never do that again. Instead she chose the path self pity, ignorance, and justification.

If you do nothing else today, please look up the meaning of "Blood Libel."

The Acts Of COWARDS!

Sarah Palin removed this graphic from her website today, after the tragic shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D - AZ) at a Safeway store in Tucson Arizona. I am here to tell you, I won't be forgetting this act of terrorism, which was not only encouraged, but suggested by Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin, and those who suggest violence against others, have NO PLACE IN SOCIETY! She needs to be held LEGALLY accountable for this!

Consider joining me in asking our leaders to declare SARAHPAC a terrorist organization!

Jumping The Shark And Other Political Pursuits...

Unstrange Phenomena

"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy."

-Mahatma Gandhi

Okay, I know, Santa will probably put me on his naughty list for this, and if so I will take my lumps but the thing is... IT'S JUST SO FUNNY... It REALLY, REALLY IS! To hear FOX NEWS go on and on about how critics everywhere have panned Sarah Palin's new reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska" made me a little giddy. As they openly mocked her, I not only enjoyed it for a moment or two, it made my whole day! I smiled for hours! But please, let me explain. I don't approve of folks bullying each other. I don't care for name calling, or talking behind someones back, because I know how it feels to have someone treat you like you are dumb or irrelevant. So please understand, it's not that I condone this treatment of Sarah Palin. The reason why I smiled all day was because everyone, including Sarah Palin, was given the opportunity to learn what FOX NEWS really thinks of her. You see, when you have the full information you can begin to make intelligent decisions. Like who you want to associate with. Who you want representing your ideas and ideals, and you also get the chance to learn who your friends really are.

What Sarah Palin will do with the information isn't really clear. I couldn't find a link to her response to the mocking. I thought I heard that she called them "lamestream" media as well, but I could be wrong. If you know a link to what her response is feel free to leave it in the comment thread. All this is interesting to me because, like most humans, I have had to let myself learn some lessons in life, some of which were quite painful. I have a couple scars from those lessons, but I thank GOD for them everyday because I am a smarter, more confident person for it. I don't know about Sarah, and the lessons she has let herself learn, but this week alone, both Sarah and her daughter Bristol have had a chance to not just learn, but to grow and unfortunately, both seemed to have made a decision to pass on the chance.

Deep down, Bristol Palin has to know that she hasn't really earned a spot in next week's finale of Dancing With The Stars. It has been confirmed that a number of conservative websites have been bragging about manipulating the rules and voting for Bristol in blocks. On one site I read a comment from a man who was bragging about voting for Bristol over 900 times! If that's true, ABC should know the truth, and if it has registered an inordinate amount of votes for Bristol, then it should make it known and act accordingly. Bristol had a real chance this week to show what she is about, and instead of addressing those claims, and appealing to her followers to vote fairly, she denied the claims of cheating, and then she, and her sister Willow engaged in homophobic comments on Facebook aimed at a commenter who didn't think much of her mother's new reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska." The behavior of Bristol and Willow is a clear indication of how these two girls have been raised. It gives the world an honest glimpse into what their values really are. Not just by how the girls behave but by how their parents respond to their actions.

Bristol has said she deserved the DWTS mirror ball trophy because she has come a long way, and she has I agree. She has also said that she deserves it because she is "relatable" to average people because she isn't "one of those Hollywood types." Bristol, dear, the show is called DANCING WITH THE STARS, hon, you, by definition, are NOT A STAR, so in reality, no pun intended, you don't qualify. But ABC made a decision to include you, and now everyone has to deal with what it meant to allow someone, who doesn't fit the definition of STAR, to compete. I feel like all those teabaggers, who decided to manipulate things on her behalf are the cruelest ones of all. By cheating, the teabaggers have robbed this young woman of the chance to grow as a person. The bigger message here is that hard work and talent really doesn't matter, as long as you have someone to help you buck the rules.

I used to enjoy Dancing With The Stars. I enjoy the artistry of dance. I love the ballet, and I love to bust a move myself once in a while. That usually amounts to me dancing around the house as I do my chores, it's not something I would take to the national stage to do. LOL. But I love watching DWTS to see all the different dances and enjoy the music. It always brings back dear memories of cuddling with my Elvis as I watched it. Elvis loved music, and he loved to cuddle, so that's what we would do on Monday nights, while Alan worked overtime. As soon as the theme song played, Elvis would settle into my arms and we would enjoy the show together. He actually watched the TV right along with me. He is gone now, and my two new fellas sit with me the same as he did, which is nice, but there was something about watching it with Elvis that I miss terribly. Now, add in the controversy from this season, and I don't know if could ever feel the same about the show. If Bristol Palin wins DWTS next week, because of politics, I think it will definitely be official, DWTS will have JUMPED THE SHARK! And, I fear, if Sarah Palin does make it to the White House one day, America will have JUMPED THE SHARK as well.

By the way, can someone explain to me how Sarah Palin can bash reality shows, and those who compete on them, and then sign a deal for one of her own, and praise Bristol for joining one? How does that work again?

Hey, just askin'.

I miss my Elvis every single day. And after next week, I will be missing Dancing With The Stars as well.

:(

Living By Example

"Sweep first before your own door, before you sweep the doorstep of your neighbors."

-Swedish Proverb

Last Thursday evening, September 9th, at a about 6:24 PM, a 30-inch natural gas pipeline ruptured under a quiet neighborhood in San Bruno, California, and resulted in an explosion which destroyed 37 homes, and damaged, to different degrees, 8 additional homes. The blast killed 7 people (at last count) and injured 53, some of them seriously. A mother and daughter died that night. A young college student watched his girlfriend die in the fire that consumed his home, and others had to literally run for their lives despite their injuries. During the evenings news coverage, there were stories of folks driving their burned neighbors to the hospital, and tending to those who couldn't save themselves on their own. The community at large came out in force to provide blankets, and clothing, and simple necessities for their now injured and displaced neighbors. As frightening and depressing as it was to watch the events unfold, there was also such a strong sense of community, and neighbor being there for neighbor, that one couldn't help but feel encouraged about the human race.

I don't think anyone stopped to ask "what's your religion" that night. There was no asking of political affiliation or race. It was neighbor, helping neighbor, in a time of devastation. I expect that when faced with a similar circumstance, most folks wouldn't stop to ask those questions, when responding to such a need, but if that's true in times like that, then why should those questions ever come up? Would you walk over your neighbors body and keep on going if... oh say... your neighbor was a Muslim? Or a Catholic? Or a Jew? Or Black? Or White? Or Oriental? Would you take a moment to ask political affiliation before saving a burn victim? Would you donate food or clothing or blood, only if you could be reassured that what you donated only went to a certain group of people? People you approve of? Of course not! As Americans we have been raised to be there for our neighbors, especially in times of need. We have been raised to treat all people the way we want to be treated. Right?

Okay, if that's true... so why are we allowing ourselves to be lead around by fear and ignorance? If we wouldn't stop to ask those all important questions of race or political affiliation or religious ideals, then why do we put so much of our energies into it when there isn't a disaster to bring us together? Do we always need a disaster to tap into tolerance and acceptance? America is at it's most divided since 9/11, yet it seems to me that in the days and weeks after that horrible day, we all pulled together pretty well. We were a country grieving, but now, thanks to a few people using 9/11 for personal gain, we are a country divided yet again. Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck threw quite a hootenanny yesterday in Anchorage, Alaska. As Sarah Palin put it on her Facebook page...

“ I can think of no better way to commemorate 9/11 than to gather with patriots who will ‘never forget. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.'"

According to Politico, tickets were priced between $65.00 and $115.00 each.

I know Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are in it for the money, but did they really have to make money off 9/11?

Just asking.

If they really wanted to spend the day with "patriots" couldn't they have waived their speaking fee? Better yet, maybe they could have visited some of the first responders of 9/11 who are facing serious health conditions, and medical bills, because of the dust and smoke at Ground Zero?

A lot can be learned from tragedies such as what happened in San Bruno the other night, and 9/11. We were there for each other, in the days and weeks after we were struck by Al-Qaeda. We were thinking straight. We knew in our hearts who the real enemies were. Our enemy was Bin Laden and his band of extremists... not the religion of Islam.

Now where are we?

Allowing a few loudmouth republicans make us rethink our values as Americans.

Make NO mistake. Republicans are using fear and ignorance to scare us into submission for political and monetary gain. The midterm elections are only a couple months off. Pride is leading their every move, their every word.

It's sick. It's wrong. It's about as UN-AMERICAN as it gets!

Thank you people of San Bruno, for restoring my faith in humanity again. Humans who do the right thing. Humans who treat others the way they want to be treated. The folks who came out to help their neighbors in their time of need, showed no less then unconditional love, and isn't that the rarest thing to find?

Who's example would you rather follow?

Hey, just asking?

-Carly

Grrr... Sarah Palin...!

After Sarah Palin's Twitter crap yesterday, I felt like this video needed to be a part of my entry. Look, Sarah was at her vilest yesterday. Apparently she has never heard of treating others the way she wants to be treated! You know? I really have a hard time believing that our founding fathers had name calling, and hurtful barbs in mind. I don't know, I suppose I could be wrong, but if I am wrong, and they would approve of us slinging such disparities at each other, then AMERICA is not the best country on earth... and it never will be!

The question I have to ask is... Is THIS how you have raised your children Sarah? Do you count name-calling among your family values? If so, fine, do it in your own home, but don't step on clear thinking parents all across America who are working hard to raise fair-minded, responsible children! Sarah, consider your words carefully, would you want someone else messing with your children's morals? Freedom of speech used to hurt others... SAD... OH SO SAD!

Sarah Palin's words...

"Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American,not fair)"

"Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!"

This is all especially confusing, considering what Dr. Laura said about you, after John McCain chose you has his running mate!

"I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?

-Dr. Laura (Full length article here)

-Carly

PS: You know, it's really difficult not to hop over to Sarah Palin's Twitter page and leave a "Good Morning Bitch!" Thankfully, I know what the 1st Amendment is about!

The Definition Of Insanity

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.

-Albert Einstein

Question: Is John McCain insane or is he simply showing his true colors?

What is John McCain thinking? Aligning himself with this hateful woman, and the raciest Teabaggers who follow her around salivating? Is he trying to cash in on the popularity she enjoys with that particular group, or has is he experiencing some sort of dementia? Either way, I predict that John McCain will be losing big this year. If he manages to win his party's primary, I doubt he will see a victory this fall. The republican party has turned into a specter of fear and hate, oh and let's not forget BLATANT LIARS. When was the last time you heard a truly positive message from them? Of course I suppose "positive" might be a subjective thing. If you are into throwing rocks through windows, and leaving threatening messages on the answering machines of elected officials, if that is your... ahem... cup of tea... then I imagine you are proud of the republicans. So sad for you. So very sad.

Senator McCain...

Being the "Party of Hell No" is not something to be proud of. Indeed, someday you will look back on this and cringe, not just because you had chosen to put your pride before your service to your country, but because you SOLD OUT to fear. At one time I had respect for you and all you went through in Vietnam. I am sad to say, I have lost any little bit of that respect that I once had for you. Now sir, I pity you. I feel sorry for you, in that you have chosen to fall victim to your own party's fear mongering. You sir, have made yourself into a liar. You have aligned yourself with liars, such as Sarah Palin. You have aligned yourself with violence and hate. Tell me Sen. McCain, what are your values now? Still Pro-life? What kind of America are you asking these children to grow up in. One where they can have their health care cut off because of a pre-existing condition? America... the country where special interests trumps the general well-being of it's people. America... the country where big business trumps the well-being of it's people. America... the country where money stands between a sick child, and it's right to a healthy life. Shame on you.

Sen. McCain... you, sir, have jumped the shark! And I can't wait to see you fail this year! Welcome to the private sector. Check out Walmart, you would make a terrific greeter.
