The "Off Market" Anniversary

"Real love stores never have endings"

~Richard Bach
Love Story

Today is a big day for me. It is the anniversary of my blogging on Ellipsis... yep... it was 13 years ago today that I began sharing my life on the World Wide Web! Well, on AOL at first, then on Blogger. It's been a wild ride, and if you asked me back then if I thought I would be buying a house in Stockton, California one day, I would have laughed and laughed and laughed. 13 years ago today I had just come in from a swim, and Elvis was tickling my knees as I toyed with the idea of blogging. Would I have enough interesting things to say? Would I enjoy sharing my thoughts with total strangers? How would my photography fit in? LOL. The answer to all the questions seemed to be positive, so off I went... into the big pond of AOL blogging. And here we are today! Now, not only do I blog, I mircoblog on Twitter, and share my photography on Flickr and Pintrest and I have made some amazingly supportive friends on Twitter and even flirted... OUT LOUD... with Dylan McDermott, before Maggie Q of course! I know, I know... the flirting was minor and I wasn't keeping Dylan McDermott awake at night, but it still feels creepy to flirt with another girl's fella... right? Didn't Alan mind me flirting with Dylan McDermott? You ask.Well, no, he found it amusing, especially when I would blush with each little alert that beeped on my phone that told me he had just favorited something stupid I had just said. LOL. I don't know who enjoyed my flirting with Dylan McDermott more, me or Alan! I would like to think I at least made #Mcdillet smile a little too!

But like I said, that was before Maggie Q.

Sigh.

But here we are. I will be explaining what happened this summer soon. Probably this Autumn when I get back to blogging daily, but for now here is a look at our new home. We get the keys either late this week or early next week. Until then we are still in Turlock, or as I like to call it...

THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT!

Home

Yeah, I know, I have a "Mad Men" styled kitchen, complete with a PINK oven. LOL. But that's just temporary. We need to get moved in and all the utilities put into place, and some painting done, then we are going to renovate this fall. Probably in October. You'll see... it's going to look amazing. I am going for a Tuscan theme, so give it some time. You'll see! But until then, how completely cool is a PINK oven? I am tempted to leave it for nostalgia sake, but I miss my stove and oven Alan bought me a few years ago. Shrug. Still... it's kinda cool to have Barbie's Dream Kitchen!

In Real Estate terms the words "Off Market" are AWESOME!

So much has happened in the last 13 years!
Thank you so much for supporting me, and coming along with me for the ride! I love you, my friends!

Foggy Thoughts

"At night the fog was thick and full of light, and sometimes voices."

~Erin Bow
Plain Kate

It's been rainy in the Bay Area again. It isn't going to last long, but while it's here I find it hard to think because I am sure that there is something scary just beyond the fog draped trees. Is it scary like speaking in public? Or is it scary like Donald Trump becoming president one day? Who knows? But one thing is for sure, Dylan McDermott, carrying a box of chocolate, never comes walking out of fog... at least not in the horror stories I imagine! I really do need to change my way of thinking!

Happy Valentine's Day

I love you.
 I hate you.
I like you.
 I hate you.
 I think you're stupid.
I think you're a loser.
 I think you're wonderful.
I want to be with you.
I don't want to be with you.
I would never date you.
 I hate you.
    I love you...
I think the madness started the moment we met and you shook my hand.
Did you have a disease or something?

~Shannon L. Adler

Oh my God, have I ever felt like this before! I have fallen in love at first sight. I once took 12 years to fully fall in love, and it was totally worth the wait! I feel in love many times with the wrong person, and just once with the right one. I have fallen in love with stars so high in the sky, that I will never be able to touch, only admire from here on earth. Which is terrific, because that light will always be there. You know the light... right? The light of perfection. The light that lives in the part of the sky where the picnic is always perfect, and where there is always a cool breeze moves gently past your face that always smells a bit like lavender, and where his eyes hold your eyes for a million years. You know this is fantasy love, and it has it's place. It's important. And one of the best parts about being alive. It's all part of a dream life, that is just as relevant as the real thing. Just ask any one of my celebrity crushes, because chances are, they have also felt that way about someone, at some point in their life. The crush... is there anything else like it? No, not quite. The crush takes no work, and it lives as long as you want it to. The crush lives forever, up in the tiny lights in the sky.

Real love is the best love. But crush love has it's place too.
If only to remind one how wonderful it is here on earth!

Love every single day, as much as you can!

Machines... In Color And Black And White

"We have too many cellphones. We've got too many Internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now."

~Ray Bradbury

Recently, I got the rare opportunity to visit a machine graveyard. No Joke. There were more dead machines, and parts, and parts of machines, and just useless objects than I could hardly believe. And it wasn't even a machine bone yard, it was just useless stuff someone was storing. But as big an eyesore as it was, it was also  candy for my photographers eyes, so I snapped off a few pictures. I liked what I saw through the camera more than what I saw using just my eyes. It's always amazing to me how things change with new eyes, in this case the eyes I use while I practice my photography. Now, for some deep contemplation...

Cell phones?

The Internet?

Vending Machines?

Vending Machines...
The one I have used the longest would be the vending machine. It has provided me quick nourishment and quenched many a thirst. Could I do without one? Yeah... but there is something so wonderfully simplistic about them that I think I would be sad if they ever went the way of the best ideas like the Automat.

I have always wanted to eat at an Automat, but not just any Automat, one circa 1955, and located in Manhattan. You know, like Doris Day! LOL. But alas, except for the occasional one here and there, they are gone now, replaced by Fast Food establishments. But still, there is just something so cool about the concept. And if you look at the original pictures of them, they were styled all in that beautiful Art Deco design. So lovely.

Cell phones...
I think I might use my cell phone less often than my computer. But what I love most about my cell phone is the fact that if I am away from my computer, I can access the Internet through it. The Internet has become a household tool, just as important, if not more than, a vacuum or a toaster. But my cell phone can connect me to my husband and friends instantaneously. I love being able to send text messages. I feel safer walking to my car at night with my cell phone near. In fact, I don't know how I lived most of my life without it!

The Internet...
The Internet is my door to the whole world. I have it for shopping, I am a bargain hunter, and the Internet has saved me a ton of money over the years! I have it for friends... some of my favorite people, who I wouldn't have met otherwise, live comfortably in a box on my desk! I have it for fun, like for following the Wise Words Of Dylan McDermott! A nice man who also lives comfortably in a box on my desk! LOL :) And sometimes in my phone, and once in a while in my Galaxy Tablet.

He is my current celebrity crush, but more to the point, someone I found out is really quite nice. If not for the Internet I think I might have assumed he was like a lot of other celebrities. Unreachable. Snobbish. Full of themselves. Now kind of I think of him as a sort of friend, and I look forward to what he has to say. I always get a smile when he favorites something I have said. It's always going to feel good to feel appreciated even on a small level. Right? So the Internet is fun, but it is also where I am able to express my creativity, and be able to share it instantaneously, and take care of day to day chores like bill paying.

So, if one of these things had to be gone for good, I guess I would say the vending machine would be least missed. But that is not the same as saying it doesn't still currently have it's place. I like just grabbing something on the run, using pocket change. Shrug. Maybe it's just me, doing my best to keep one foot back in the stone age, you know, 1980. That was the year I graduated high school, and now it seems more like a million years ago. Time flies. We have to make the most of it, but don't fear the future.
