Update: The Knucklehead said this today, isn't it treason to give aid and comfort to our enemies. I'd say publicly letting Iran off the hook for the recent cyberattack on the utilities in Minnesota, and the likely attack on 7 other states! And impeachable offense I believe!

Ellipsis Movie Of The Week... Ocean's 11

Ocean's 11 the original. The classic. Is it the best version of the story of Danny Ocean and his cohorts, you bet! But only because most of the time I go with the originals, so to be fair, the George Clooney's, 2001 version, definitely hits the mark! I guess it really depends on mood. Angie Dickinson is wonderful as Danny's wife. But Julia Roberts brought the same class as Dickinson did. Both films were made in different eras, so the updating of the story had to be done, and it was done in 2001 without damaging the original feel.  I am not going to tell you what I thought about the acting in either movie, because perfect is perfect. Right? So, here is my current pick between the two, but by the time the week is over, I might just watch the 2001 version. Shrug. Watch them both, but start with this one.

Nets To Catch The Wind

Just a short post today. A celebration of the Full Beaver Moon, and the Impeachment of Donald John Trump. I can't call him president anymore, because I feel no respect for the office of the presidency. Not his presidency. I felt for a long time that to refuse him his title was silly and argumentative, but I can't do it anymore. I just can call him president.I smile to myself the other day, when I realized that popcorn kinda looks like autumn. Little puffy pieces of autumn. It also looks like impeachment, which is the reason we bought the cool little cart for. I won't lie, I have been praying for this day for a long time. He's cruel. And he's selfish. He refuses to learn. He seems to be cognitively ill. All things that need to be addressed, and hopefully they will be. Hopefully, by Christmas, this nightmare will be over, and we can work on undoing all the damage that's been done. At least some of it. Hopefully, we will heal as a nation.

I watched the Impeachment Trial of Richard Nixon, and of William Jefferson Clinton, and I will be watching this one two. Politics. Either way, the full moon will probably make it all stranger that it would have been otherwise, full moons do that.

The Art Of Giving It Up...

Funny how things work. Most motivational advisers, gurus, and speakers will insist that you should keep soldiering on, except things for what they are, and never, ever, GIVE UP! But I can tell you, there most certainly is a time and season to do just that... GIVE UP! In my case the message to give up came by way of an email from my doctor telling me that despite my relative good health, low cholesterol numbers, and average weight, I was now, at the age of 45 a diabetic! Stupid genes or something... not sure... but facts being facts, my body simply doesn't process food the way it used to, so it was time to grow up, and make a few changes. One of the easiest adjustments to my life came in the form of snack foods. When. Where. If. It was all something that I needed to put some thought into.

I have a sweet tooth. Alan has a salty tooth. Well, movies and snacking pretty much go hand in hand... right? And when you belong to rewards clubs, such as My Coke Rewards program, some of the rewards involved offer movie theater packages, which include, drinks and popcorn. So, instead of ordering a Coke Classic, Alan and I share a large Coke Zero. And instead of ordering 2 large popcorn, we share one small popcorn, and set goals for actually leaving the theater with some left over! We simply have a nice, healthy lunch before we go to the movies, and we have the best of both worlds... in moderation! It works pretty well for us, but lately we have been passing on the snacks altogether! Yes, popcorn smells wonderful, and yes I believe it's addictive, but we have been counting our calories, sodium, sugars, and fat, and acting accordingly.

I have to admit, we haven't given up completely, but we are working on it. Change doesn't just happen over night, not even during lint! But the effort is making us smarter people, because more thought is going into our health! It doesn't hurt that now theaters have to display the nutritional values of their concession offerings. It's never been easier to do the unthinkable and GIVE UP!
