A Delicous Autumn Harvest!

"Autumn. It's crispness, it's anticipation, it's melancholia, it's cool breezes replacing summer's heat. It's long days in the field, a harvest festival when work's done, a cheering crowd in a football stadium, chrysanthemums punctuating a somber landscape. It's Halloween high jinx, pumpkins grinning toothy smiles, the crack of pecan pressed against pecan. It's the first curls of wood-smoke, fresh blisters from pushing a rake. It's crisp and fresh and mellow and snug, solemn and melancholy. And it's very, very welcome."

~Good Housekeeping Magazine

We took a trip to Half Moon Bay yesterday, and it's wouldn't be the same if we didn't visit the Farmer's Daughter food and veggie stand! It's a family tradition to pick up some Brussels's sprouts, as well as yams and onions and sometimes Heirloom Tomatoes! Yesterday, we stuck to the sprouts, and some fingerling potatoes, and a few bulbs of garlic! But we aren't done for this harvest, so stay tuned to see all the recipes we come up with for this season!

Delicious!

Ellipsis Monday Photo Shoot #95: Organic Food

"Everything is the product of one Universal creative effort. There is nothing dead in Nature. Everything is organic and living, and therefore the whole world appears to be a living organism."

-Seneca

EMPS #95: Organic Food NOW CLOSED!
I found these lovely organically grown purple yams last year, and they inspired me not only with my cooking, but with my photography! This week, let's take a look at ORGANIC FOODS. Fresh would be wonderful, but canned works well too. It's up to you.

Extra Credit: Photograph something growing in an ORGANIC garden.

Round Robin Challenge: Food Glorious Food!

"Welcome to the Church of the Holy Cabbage. Lettuce pray."

-Unknown

Welcome to our Round Robin Challenge this time around, it was suggested by me, and it is titled... "Food Glorious Food! I thought it would be fun to show each other what kind of food we each enjoy the most. After all, food should be enjoyed thoroughly, and completely. I know I do. Especially my fruits and veggies! Oh don't get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional burger, and pot roast, but I love my fruits and veggies most of all. YUM. Sometimes, especially this time of year, I will make a sweet potato for dessert, rather then cake or pie or something else you might traditionally see as dessert fair. I'm weird that way. :)

Another thing you can find me doing this time of year, is visiting all the lovely organic fruit and veggie stands across the bay. Half Moon Bay has some really good stands, unfortunately many of them finish their seasons as of today. :( Roadside farms are just the best! I love picking out some lovely organic Brussels Sprouts and Heirloom tomatoes for a nice Vegetarian meal, and I miss the small stands when they are closed. Fresh ingredients. YUM. There is nothing like it.

Here... take a look at some of my other favorite foods...

Yum... A Mini Eclare.

A Field of Brussels Sprouts.

Yellow Onions.
Delicious Heirloom Tomatoes

Fresh Crisp Apples Ready To Become Candied Apples.

Leftover homemade Meatloaf made in Puff Pastry.LOL. Alan says that my leftovers are sometimes better then my original meals!

Be sure to visit all the participating Robins. Just follow the links below. :) And if you want to play along, there is still time. Visit the official Round Robin blog for all the details, or feel free to send me an email.
