Steven's Feline Friday: Elvis And I Wrap Packages

"Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful."

-Norman Vincent Peale

The Christmas tree is decorated, and there's a definite chill in the air, so what does that mean? It means Elvis and I will be spending the day wrapping Christmas presents. :) I love spending the day with my kitty, he is really helpful for a task such as this. He holds the paper down and assists me with picking out a bow for each gift. I think he must be partial to the blue ones, as those are the ones he usually nudges toward me when it is time to put the final touches on the presents. I will take his official Christmas portrait in a couple weeks, just before the holiday, but for today, he and I are Christmas elves. :)

You can play along with Feline Friday too. Just drop by my friend Steven's blog, (sometimes) photoblog, to learn all the details.

Steven's Feline Friday: Elvis's Fortress Of Solitude

"The cat, having sat upon a hot stove lid, will not sit upon a hot stove lid again. But he won't sit upon a cold stove lid either."

-Mark Twain

Snore

I thought it would be fun to do a Feline Friday this week. :) I haven't had a chance to show you Elvis's favorite place to nap in the yard... underneath an old blue wheelbarrow that came with our little cottage when we moved in six years ago. It's the funniest thing, it's been in the back yard all this time, and yet it seems as if Elvis has just discovered it this summer. He usually asks to go into the yard around 7 AM, and when I let him out he goes on his regular rounds, checking the vegetable garden first, then my flower garden. Sometimes, if he is in a good mood, he will sit and talk to his pal Sebastiani through the fence, but right around 11 AM or so, he will walk over to the far side of the yard to the old blue wheelbarrow, where he settles down for the rest of the afternoon. He's a happy boy. :)

Yawn

Yep... Thats the stuff

If you have a feline friend, you can play along too. Click here to visit Steven's blog, where you can find all the information on how to play.

Steven's Feline Friday: Laughing Kitty

"A sense of humor... is needed armor. Joy in one's heart, and some laughter on one's lips, is a sign that the person down deep has a pretty good grasp of life."

-Hugh Sidey

Tee Hee. Elvis likes to giggle and laugh. We first noticed this peculiar talent of his, when he was about a year old. We were playing fetch with him one evening, and as we tossed the little pink mouse to him, we heard him make a little sound. Just a silly little snort. Alan and I both laughed, because it had sounded to both of us like he was actually laughing. "How strange would that be?" We mused. But when he caught the mouse, and brought it back for us to once again throw, he made the noise again as he laid it at Alan's feet. Again, we laughed. "Could it be? Can cats really laugh?" Here it is, 9 years later, and my answer is, YES! Cats do laugh!

When Elvis is having fun, or is he is looking at something he thinks is amusing, he makes a wonderful little giggling noise. Noodles make him laugh, his stuffed monkey (Cap-N-Federick) makes him laugh, playing with bubbles makes him laugh, and when he sneezes... he laughs. Yesterday, I was teasing his whiskers with a feather brush, and he just loved it. We have a pretty good time together. He makes me laugh, and I make him laugh, and it's good for all three of us. He is a happy little fella again, and is just about back to his old self, since we finally have his diabetes under control. I guess humor helps cats heal as well. :)

This entry is for my friend Steven's weekly meme, Feline Friday. If you have a kitty you would like to show off, and you want to play along, you can find out all the info you need by visiting his blog, "(sometimes) photoblog." Like Steven says, "Cats Rule."

Steven's Feline Friday: The Many Moods Of Elvis EP #1

"In the middle of a world that had always been a bit mad, the cat walks with confidence."

-Rose Kennedy

Guess What? Elvis and I decided to try making a new video. He was feeling a lot more animated the other day, and in a much better mood, so we decided to give his reach for stardom one more try. :) I think this one is better then the last one, but we still have some room for improvement. :) We likes the camera, which will make things easier. I am trying to break the habit of talking baby talk to him. LOL. What can I say, he is my baby! :)

In this video he is being very affectionate. We had just finished doing some Yoga. Yep, he and I do Yoga together. He even has his own mat. I help him with his stretches, and then we do some Qi Gong and meditation. Although, his meditation sounds a lot like sleeping. Snnnnnooooorrrrrrr. :) Maybe our next video will be one of he and I practicing our search for inner peace. :) For now, enjoy!

There is still time to get your entry in for this week's edition of Feline Friday, over at my friend Steven's blog, (sometimes) photoblog. You can find out all the information you need to play along by clicking here.

Steven's Feline Friday: LolCats

"There is a close relationship between the " ha-ha" of humor and the "aha!" of discovery."

-Roger Von Oech

It's Feline Friday time, over at my pal Steven's. Gosh this week has certainly got away from me. I had planned on doing this entry days ago. :) I had also planned on getting some new photos of Elvis. It just all got away from me. Oh well. I will be doing some new photos of him this coming week for sure, so y'all will see some new ones soon. In the mean time I hope these bring everyone a giggle or two. This is the first time I did a LolCat. I Can Has CheezBurger, is an intersting and fun site, but I am not sure if the photos I did are good enough for submission... what do you think? Should I try to make my Elvis a star????? Be sure to drop by (sometimes) photoblog to see the other submissions for this week.

Elvis Health Update: There was good news at the vet yesterday, it seems that increasing his insulin to 4cc twice a day is doing the trick. He is looking like his old self... and he is giggling more often. :) We are a happy family. :)

Steven's Feline Friday: An Update On Elvis

"Cats are rather delicate creatures and they are subject to a good many ailments, but I never heard of one who suffered from insomnia."

-Joseph Wood Krutch

It's Feline Friday Time :)

This cat! Remember a few weeks ago, when Alan and I both had colds? Well, it seems that Elvis took notice, and decided to catch a cold right along with us. The cold passed, but the sinus infection didn't. He has a bad sinus infection. Snnneeeezee, wheeeeeeeze, SnoorrrrrSNORRRRRRE! LOL. He is making the strangest noises, but he is on the road to recovery, thanks to a bottle of the anti-biotic called Clavamox. It smells a little like bubblegum, and the drama factor of giving him his twice a day dose is only a little... well... dramatic. LOL. He is a good boy, with plenty of patience for his mommy forcing him to drink the foul, pasty, white goo. He is doing ok with his diabetes, although after his visit with Dr. "B" this week his dose is now up to 4 units. :(

I am having the hardest time convincing him to eat. He does better if the weather doesn't get too hot, anything over 85 and he becomes little melting kitty. So, I think we are going to replace the air-conditioner in a couple weeks, because Elvis can't take another summer like last year. If it was just us, I think I would try to stick it out another season, but Elvis has never done well in the warmer weather, and with our new adventure, I just need to make him as comfy as possible. He likes his sunglasses, he likes his hats, and like his mommy, he will be happy when autumn is here. :)

Like it says above, it's Feline Friday time! Friday is the day of the week, my friend Steven sets aside to honor the cats in our lives. It's easy to play along, and you can get all the information by visiting his blog, (sometimes) photoblog.

Steven's Feline Friday: Elvis... The New Adventure Begins!

"You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats."

-Proverb

My little boy is home! The adventure with his new health regimen begins! He had a difficult afternoon, as he had to say goodbye to Dr."B" and his two favorite nurses, "M" and "D." Elvis always enjoys seeing them, once he gets to the doctor's office, it's the traveling in-between that he doesn't care for. He is scared of the sound of sirens, and unfortunately there was a fire truck going by just as Alan stepped out of the doctor's office with him. It scared Elvis pretty bad, but it was soon over with, and the office isn't too far away, so they were home in just a few minutes. After a half hour or so of giving us the cold shoulder, he was his same old self. Grinning, chasing his laser mouse, and when it came time for his first injection of insulin, we were much more nervous then he was! LOL.

Alan gave him his first dose, just after dinner. It couldn't have gone smoother. :) Then it was my time with Elvis, as I gave him a treat of two Tbs. Beef and Gravy Gerber's baby food. We will have to keep that on hand now, as it will be a regular part of his insulin schedule. Later on this morning, at around 5:00 am, it will be my turn to give him an injection. Gulp! Actually, I am not worried. He and I will do a little Yoga, have our Wheaties, and then he will hold my paw as I cowboy up, and give him a shot for the first time. :) I can do this?! I can do this! Right?

:)

Here is Elvis, after he came home last night. :)

Dr "B" had to shave his neck a bit in order to draw his blood. :( That kinda caught me off guard a bit. he has to have his blood checked again next week, so it might be a while before he looks the same, but he is being a good sport. Like I said, I am the Nervous Nelly... not him! LOL.

He was a happy little guy last night, just after we took this photo, he got a new red collar, with a heart shaped tag which reads, "I am Diabetic." It was recommended as a precaution, should he ever somehow get out of the yard.

This is my entry for this week's edition of Feline Friday, the day my pal Steven has set aside to honor the cats we love. You can find out all the information you need to play along by visiting his blog, (sometimes) photoblog.

Steven's Feline Friday: It's Just A Spider Mommy :)

"In nine lifetimes, you'll never know as much about your cats, as your cat knows about you."

-Michel de Montaigne

I was hoping to one day get a photo of Elvis just before he kisses me, he does this funny little pucker thing, that always makes me laugh. Tee Hee. Elvis has been taking such good care of me this week, and at one point, he saved me from a spider!

Last Wednesday morning, I decided to go to bed a little early, around 3:30 am, I was feeling a little under the weather, running a slight fever, so I thought I might climb in bed and cuddle up to Alan and Elvis, to get warm. When I pulled back my sheets and blankets, I saw a big, yucky spider go running off my pillow and down between my sheet and blanket. I screamed! LOUD! Poor Alan jumped from the bed with a slightly panicked, "WHAT?" "Sppppiiiiiiidder," I said, slightly frightened. LOL. "Where is it?" Asked Alan, but before I could tell him, Elvis sprang up in the air and pounced down flat on top of his stuffed monkey, Cap-n-Federick. Alan gently peeked under Elvis's chin, to see a slightly slightly hairy, slightly slick, black spider moving just a few of his many legs. Alan made a face, and then reached in with a tissue and removed the spider from under my hero kitty.

Blech. It gave me the wiggins like you wouldn't believe. I turned on the lights, pulled back all the covers, and began to look for the rest of the gang. LOL. After about 20 minutes of searching, Alan finally talked me into going back to bed, safe in the knowledge that I would be ok, at least from an invasion of a spider gang out to get me. A little later, Alan left for work, but not before tucking me in, with some cold medicine, some Kleenex, and several stuffed bears, and monkeys. He then gave Elvis his usual daily instruction to "mind his manners, and take care of his mommy." I felt better, but I sill had the wiggins a good bit.

I tossed and turned for about 30 minutes or so. I turned on the bathroom light, and climbed back into bed. I closed my eyes, and was trying to think nice thoughts, when I felt Elvis stand up in the bed, I opened my eyes to see him standing over my face. He was smiling down at me, and then his ran his paw down my cheek. He petted me, gave me a little kiss on my forehead, and then he snuggled down in the covers, put his head on Alan's pillow, and closed his eyes. I knew right then, I was the safest woman in the world. My kitty loves me. :)

It's fun to play along with Steven's Feline Friday. Lots of great people and kitties to be found on the net. Drop over to Steven's blog, (sometimes photoblog) to learn all the details, and meet his beautiful cat, Pickle.
