4:54 In Autumn

"Autumn. It's crispness, its anticipation, it's melancholia, it's cool breezes replacing summer's heat. It's long days in the field, a harvest festival when work's done, a cheering crowd in a football stadium, chrysanthemums punctuating a somber landscape. It's Halloween high jinx, pumpkins grinning toothy smiles, the crack of pecan pressed against pecan. It's the first curls of wood smoke, the fresh and mellow and snug, solemn and melancholy. And it's very very welcome."

~Good Housekeeping Magazine

How about just a clock. No fancy words.
No whining about autumn coming to a close.
How about just a clock, ticking away.

3:20 In The Afternoon In Late Summer

"Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can't buy more hours. Scientists can't invent new minutes. And you can't save time to spend it on another day. Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you've wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow."

~Denis Waitley

I spotted this clock in downtown San Francisco the other day. It's beautiful! The time was wrong, off by exactly an hour, but then it seems no two clocks I have seen in the city ever seem to agree! LOL. It's a quirk of big cities I think. Anyway, while it might have been wrong about the time the other day, when we set the clocks back this autumn, it will be right again, and I will be right again to. My inner clock will be back to normal, the days will be darker, and there will be a pleasant chill in the air. How wonderful does that sound?

Ellipsis Monday Photo Shoot #19: Nap Time

"What a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk at about three o'clock every afternoon, and then lay down on our blankets for a nap."

-Barbara Jordan, quoting Robert Fulghum, in 1987, at Middlebury College

EMPS #19: NAP TIME.

THIS ASSIGNMENT IS NOW CLOSED!
Does anything feel better then a nice refreshing nap in the middle of the day? It feels especially nice on a cold winter day, so, here is your photography assignment for this week. Photograph what NAP TIME means to you! Do you have a favorite place to take a quick NAP? Does someone who lives with you take NAPS? If so, photograph them, with their permission of course, NAPPING away. How about your pets? My cats love a good NAP, maybe yours does too. If so, photograph them in mid-snore. Where do you NAP? Couch, bed or recliner... it's all good! Show me where you NAP! This week it is all about NAP TIME.

Extra Credit: Show me a favorite blanket, comforter, afghan, throw or pillow that is essential to your NAP TIME routine!
