I Won't Believe Anything Until I Hear Rachel Maddow Say it!

Watch the clip. It was produced in 2017. The Trump Halloween mask looks exactly like Trump's mugshot, which was taken just yesterday. Do you ever feel like you live in every season of that show? Now, don't get me wrong, I love horror, always have. I grew up on Creature Features with Bob Wilkins, on KTVU channel 2, which aired late on Saturday nights. It was a great cheesy camp. Lots of Vincent Price and Lon Chaney jr. Bella Lugosi too! I have watched horror whenever I got the chance! So when American Horror Story debuted, I fell in love with the show instantly. I have really enjoyed all their seasons to day, but so far the one that has deeply resonated with me was called, Cult. It wasn't quite about Trump specifically, but rather it served as a warning about what we can let ourselves become when we allow ourselves fixate on a single line of thought. Of turning our critical thinking over to obsessive devotion to... well... anything or anyone.

Is it a need to belong? Maybe. Is that what the "silent majority" means when they yell and attack the rest of us? Are the just wanting to belong? Maybe. I am not sure,  but one thing is really clear, Donald Trump thought so, and he knew that all he needed was a foot in the door of discontent, even if that foot wore a clown shoe. The circus of the world needed a few hundred thousand court jesters, so the masses came running and the MAGA cult was born. Why not? Insurrections began in other countries for partially, you have to throw in the word "patriotism" and you have the makings of a dangerous situation. But keep in mind, Sarah Palin designed the circus tent during the 2007 election cycle, when the Tea Party Patriots was conceived. She failed, but the circus quietly continued with the help from Ted Cruz.

And a little while later the biggest clown now had the biggest big top of them all. He had a circus called MAGA otherwise know as a CULT.

And like most leaders of cults, he will not only NEVER love them. He will never satisfy their needs or wants. He will always beg them to literally bail them out, and he will always, always, demand that they do his dirty work, and most of all, he will throw them to the wolves, or perhaps sell them outright. He did that last one once before when he lied about Covid-19 to further his own agenda. He lied about all of it. People died. Nothing changed. He came as close as it gets to shooting someone on 5th Avenue, and got away with it. Charles Manson. Jim Jones. David Koresh. Marshall Applewhite, and the fictional Kai Anderson, the mentally ill leader of season 7 of American Horror Story, Cult.

From the start I identified with Ally Mayfair-Richards. She had fears and phobias. So do I. She was a democrat who cared deeply about her country. So do I. Donald Trump terrified her. And I share that too. She let her fears make her act irrationally. Paralyze her. And I pretty much did that too. When I wasn't crying, I was stomping my food in anger. I finally sought help, and today my confidence is almost back to pre-Trump levels. I am happy. I have better skills for handling things. I am exhausted from the last couple years, and really the last few months as well, but I get up, every day, and face life... with a little help from Alan, who has let me retire for a while, while I gain my footing again.

I don't know what the next couple years, leading up to the national election, will be like. I have an feeling it won't be good. Hopefully things won't turn out like it did for the town that Ally and Kai lived in. Hopefully, America will give up on Trump's drama. Hopefully, America will embrace rebuilding American ideals of community and and the use of the Golden Rule. Evil has been losing in the last few elections, so maybe the population at large will learn and grow in that.

Now, about that quote. The first episode of Cult, takes place on the night of the election, in 2016. Ally and her wife, Ivy, were holding an election party, and watching the worst unfold. Hillary was losing, and only by a little in their small town in Michigan. Her neighbor from across the street, who also just happened to be a city councilman, pointed out that if Hillary didn't claim more of the swing states, her chance of winning was over. To which Ally replies...

"No! That's bullshit.
I won't believe anything until I hear Rachel Maddow say it!"

Ironic, isn't it?

Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt

"Autumn is a season of desperate hopes. The leaves are souls begging to turn life on pause. Begging to stop, begging to take a break, hiding under smiles and childish words."

~Teodora Savu
Listen To The Leaves

So, this is what I woke up to today. It was really loud, really obnoxious and it was really scary, until I realized what it was, but thank GOD it wasn't an emergency message warning of incoming ICBM's, which I have been expecting since Donald Trump took office! I suppose it was a bad enough message, in that, as I mentioned earlier this week, San Joaquin County is now in an official lock-down, through Christmas. And if I don't miss my guess here, it will be until at least the first week in January.

Once I was focused, and a little less annoyed, I couldn't help but think of American Horror Story, and how the season of Apocalypse began with one of my favorite characters, Coco St. Pierre Vanderbilt, receiving a text similar to mine, which served as a warning of ICBMs incoming, and informing that most world capitols were already gone, destroyed in a tit for tat nuclear annihilation of the occupants of earth. I could identify with Coco, when her dad called to say it was all true, all she wanted in that moment was to be with her family and boyfriend. I guess we all would. My biggest fear is that I won't be able to say goodbye to Alan. That I will not be able to hear his voice one last time. Also scary... I survive the initial blast, but I am just close enough to the action that I drown in radiation and become a walking puss ball. No thanks, I'd rather go quickly.

Hopefully, I will never have to face that, and I know I am going to feel better about things after January 20th, when Joe Biden takes office. But until then I have to make yard photography work, which is fine, because there is still a lot I am in the emotional weeds over, so I might as well learn to love my predicament. Honestly, if Ryan Murphy doesn't create a season of American Horror Story, devoted to the events of 2020, then he's not the master storyteller I know him to be! By the way, if you haven't seen American Horror Story: Apcalypse, go, scoot... watch it. The end of the world has never been more fun! Mutt and Jeff are priceless!

Ghosts, Witches And A Yellow Rubber Duck

"As a spirit having a human experience, you can choose to not merely exist but to be fully conscience and aware of living in a limited world.
When you take a conscience part in life and its multitudes of choices, you won't let life happen to you... you will make life happen for you."

Ghosts Among Us:
Uncovering The Truth About The Other Side

It's Halloween, and I never get so grown up, as to give up on Halloween as my favorite holiday. If I haven't changed my mind yet, I probably won't be doing that at all. No, Halloween is still the most glorious, magical, fun night of the year. Yes, Christmas is lovely, and its all about family, but Halloween is the one holiday where you can be exactly who you want to be. One year I was a green M&M and on a different year I was a yellow rubber duck. Most years now, I am an American Horror Story witch. I like that costume, because I get to wear my Victorian Gothic jewelry and carry my black lace parasol, which I really enjoy doing, but being a rubber duck, or a yummy piece of candy isn't bad either! Still, I think I am more witch these days, than anything else.

So, just remember that, or I'll put a spell on you!

Bwahahahahahahahahahah!

Hey, look at this, an autumn leaf in costume, as a hummingbird!

Darkness And Light/Plus Leaf Photo Catch Up

"December, being the last month of the year,
cannot help but make us think of what is to come."

~Fennel Hudson
A Meaningful Life
Fennel's Journal No. 1

Did you miss me? Yes, I took a few days off, to be sick as a damn dog! Alan and I both were. Coughing. Fever. Chills. Sick to our stomachs... wait... that wasn't about having a cold, that was about politics. Once again, politics couldn't help but drown all of us, in it's seedy waterfall of despair. I don't really want to talk about it, but I will share to the extent that I am fed up with witch hunts, lack of due process, and fear on a national level, of boogeymen, and clowns! There is a lot of REAL things to be afraid of. Once such thing to fear, and may have, indeed, got us here is tribalism. Don't think so? Look around. This season's theme of, American Horror Story: Cult, has pretty much nailed the current political, and social climate.

Women are becoming cultists, and hey, it's not that I don't get it. I experienced the same kind of evil, as the women coming forward have. Rape. Sexual Assault, and harassment in the workplace, and I even feel like the men who perpetrate these crimes and uncomfortable situations, should be brought into the light of day! But not because of false equations, not because politicians, who find their political roads to the top, by using fear, political fear, intimidation, of anyone, or appearance of "moral high ground." That's a little easy, don't you think? Al Franken was forced to retire from the U. S. Senate yesterday, and denied DUE PROCESS, that HE REQUESTED, after the first accusation, because Democrats want to gain ground on the senate race in Alabama.

I want that too, but to sacrifice one of our own, with NO proof and without hearing both stories, is wrong, and always will be. To fire every man, or woman, for that matter, who finds themselves in the same situation as Al Franken did, without due process, doesn't help women like me, survivors of sexual violence, it sets us back! Years! Right now, we have to hold onto everything that makes us America, and as painful as it can be, DUE PROCESS is part of that! America is falling away, more and more, and becoming something I don't recognize. Something that we might truly need to fear. So, when I read the quote I used for this post, I knew it summed up how I felt completely, and definitely bears repeating...

"December, being the last month of the year
cannot help but make us think of what is to come."

I don't think I am looking forward to 2018.
