Autumn Perfection...

"I am made for autumn. Summer and I have a fickle relationship, but everything about autumn is perfect to me. Wooly jumpers, Wellington boot, scarves, thin first, then thick, socks. The low slanting light, the crisp mornings, the chill in my fingers, those last warm sunny days before the rain and wind
Her moody hues and subdued palate punctuated
every now and again by a
brilliant orange, scarlet or copper goodbye.
 She is my true love."

~Alys Fowler

Last Friday held a few more scattered showers from the big storm that came through the Bay Area last Thursday. Venturing out Thursday was out of the question. It simply wasn't safe. So, Friday, while still rainy, it wasn't so rainy that we couldn't just enjoy the day. And enjoy we did! The trees, the leaves, the puffy white clouds... it was beautiful! The air in the park smelled so good, and the tiny raindrops on the tips of the leaves looked like tiny diamonds. It was breathtaking!

"The leaves fall, the wind blows, and the farm country slowly changes
from the summer cottons into its winter wools."

On A Slightly Blue San Francisco Day...

San Francisco On A Slightly Cloudy Day In Autumn

"The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day."

Dr Seuss
The Cat In The Hat

November is a beautiful month in the Bay Area. It's mostly sunny, but not that horrible harsh kind of sun that makes temperatures too hot, like you find in September, or too bright, like you find in January. The sun in the Bay Area, in November, is pleasant. If we are lucky, there will be increasing days of rain, beginning with today's rain. I love the rain in November, because it's not too cold, like in January, and it's not sticky, like in June. It's the perfect weather for getting reacquainted with your favorite sweater, or for cuddling with a cat under a beautifully soft blanket.
I love long naps with my furbabies. I think I get my best sleep in November.
I love this time of year!
It's going to rain today, and I am yawning and smiling just thinking about it!

The Rain, The Christmas Lights And Everything

"Do we not each dream of dreams? Do we not dance on the notes of lost memories? Then are we not each dreamers of tomorrow and yesterday and yesterday, since dreams play when time is askew? Are we not all adrift in the constant sea of trial and when all is done, do we not all year for ships to carry us home?

~Nathan Reese Maher

Yesterday, the first of three late autumn rainstorms moved through the Bay Area. It wasn't the worst rainstorm of the three, there is definitely bigger ones on the way, but it rained pretty consistantly all day. It was fun to see what light does with rain sometimes. With Christmas lights twinkling behind the tiny beads of water, it reminds me of the colorful little sprinkles of sugar you sometimes find on the top of sugar cookies.

Hmmm...

I think I will make a batch of sugar cookies... or maybe Snickerdoodles.

Yes, definietly Snickerdoodles.

And maybe some Spiced Apple Cider.

Yes, Spiced Apple Cider with whipped cream.

And just a dash of colored sugar sprinkled on top.

Red sugar. Or should it be green?

Hmmm.

Happiness.
