Ellipsis Christmas Movie Countdown #14

(After telling Klara that they have been pen pals all along...)

Alfred Krelik: Are you disappointed?
Klara Novak: Psychologically I am very confused... but personally I don't feel bad at all.

I bet you thought the AOL voice that announced that, You've Got Mail, was all about the movie, You've Got Mail. Nope. Before that was, The Shop Around The Corner. I love these gentle old black and white movies. No mentions of the internet, I mean was that even a gleam in anyone's eyes in 1940? No cynical look at life. Just two people falling in love in an old fashioned way, during the holidays. Getting to know someone's heart, deeply, is the way to do it. My husband and I knew each other forever, before we realized in wasn't that we were best friends, we were in love. It was that prior friendship that lead to the deepest of love. That's why I love this film so much. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie, You've Got Mail, and I will be featuring it between now and Christmas, but this one is special to me. If you can find it, watch it! Check Turner Classic Movies, they have it often during Christmastime. Watch, The Shop Around The Corner, first, then watch, You've Got Mail!
