This was the cover of TV Guide, the week of Christmas, 1971. I was 9 years old, and usually glued to the TV set, even on Christmas! During this week, The Odd Couple aired their Scrooge episode, Scrooge Gets An Oscar, and Christmas at the Whitehouse, is described as, the First Family prepares for the holiday season. LOL. Can you imagine that today? LOL! Family? What family? Trump's children? From which marriage? Oh my, the political zeitgeist from those days, would have reeled at a president ogling the Rockettes, or young female elves, passing out holiday cheer! It didn't take much back then, to end a political career. I wonder what it would take today? Perhaps it would actually take Donald Trump shooting someone on 5th avenue... but now, when I think about it, I am not so sure.
