RRC: Look Up/Look Down
"When I look down, I miss all the good stuff, when I look up I just trip over things."

RRC: Look Up/Look Down
Suggested by Steven, author of the blog, Sometimes Photoblog
I miss Steven, and I wish he were available to join us, but I am sure he wouldn't mind if we used one of the many suggestions he gave us for a challenge. This one struck a cord with me, because as we transition from winter to spring, I feel myself looking up in relation to my photography, and my attitudes in general. Even on rainy days I feel that sense of hope that a warm spring day can provide. As much as I enjoy the autumn and winter for it's dark, shorter days, I am ready for spring and summer and all it brings... especially the summer fruits and veggies! :)
But most of all... I am ready to be out with the camera, and my quest for color! I am ready to see the flowers in bloom, the colorful kites at the Berkeley Marina, and all the public art I can find! Oh, and let's not forget, I have been on a quest to find the Mission Blue butterfly forever, maybe this will finally be the year! Cross your fingers for me!! It is an amazing butterfly, which due to man, has been on the endangered species list. But now, thanks to some magnificent work by some scientists and butterfly enthusiasts, their numbers have been on the upswing. It's exciting to think they are once again growing in numbers!
Here is my collection of Looking Up/Looking Down photos. Enjoy!
**The first photo was taken on my cell phone. :)

What wonderful photos. I can't believe that you shot that bird with a cell phone. Wow!
I love lighthouse and have a collection of about fifty.
Love the quote you started with also. That describes me very well.
Have a great week.
Hi Carly,
Great shots! I like that one of looking down into the building. Have a great day!

P.S. Hope you find your butterfly.
Your pictures are wonderful---I especially love the beautiful blossoms in the first picture!!!
Great shots, Carly! Those pink flowers are wonderful and make me think of Spring! I'm posted! thanks for hosting this great meme! :)
I like your choices here. That sweet kitty looking up is priceless. I really like the Pt. Reyes area...we have been there several times. Great light house!
Whoa! Wonderful shots Carly. I really agree with your sentiments too. I'm looking forward to Spring and shooting more flowers. My quest right now is a lot less ambitious then yours...I'd like to photograph a Robin :0)
Love your pics and the "springy" look of the blog, too! And yes, spring has also had me out with my camera happily looking up and down all over the place.
Here are the clues to the despicable gargoyle...side street...off of Main St. Downtown Pleasanton...and a bonus clue above a Pub!
Creative shots!
All the photos are spectacular! My favorite though is of the kitty looking up at you. So sweet!
I love the up-down-up sequence here (you're making me dizzy!), and I'm stunned that you managed the first shot on a cell phone. Wow! The gull must have been as hard to capture as an airplane and you caught him magnificently. I love the geometrics of that multistory building interior, enjoy the contrast and the expression in the cat shot, find the quality of light intriguing in the lighthouse photo, and enjoy the architectural splendor of that tulip pillar. Well done, as usual!
Wow, That first shot with the cell phone, who would've thought you could get something like that with your cell phone.
My favorite though is the kitty looking up - so precious. =)
Now, I think I'm going to grab one of the cookies in the entry below and put my leg back up to heal.
Great looking up/looking down pictures! I like the variety. Of course, I love the kitty! Thanks for sharing them.
