Round Robin Challenge: Looking Up!

From For Ellipsis

"When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up."

-Les Brown

RRC: Looking Up.
Suggested by Robinella, of the blog, Robinella's

It's so funny, I live in California, I am out with my camera, if not every single day, then at least several times a week, and I almost never bother to photograph Palm trees. I am not really sure why. It could be because they aren't really my favorite tree, or it might be because they are so common that I don't really pay much attention to them. Who knows? I just don't. However, last week when Alan and I finally got out to the new Star Trek movie, I noticed a Palm tree on my way into the theater that for whatever reason I found particularly lovely, so I decided to take it's picture. For some reason it reminded me of fireworks. My mind works in mysterious ways at times. Shrug. What do you think? Do you like Palm trees?

Here are some other sights I have seen while LOOKING UP...

LOOKING UP at some gorgeous flowers on the side of a hill

The next couple photos were taken at the Aquarium Of The Bay on Pier 39 in San Francisco.

Alan playing with our silly cow kite. I love that kite so much!
I just had to toss in a Halloween picture. I took this one last year. Don't be surprised if I use it in an upcoming Monday Photo Shoot assignment this coming fall!
Well, that's it for me. Did you play this time around? There's still time. Just pop over to the official RR blog to get all the details.

Now, follow the links below to see some very creative photography.

loved all the pictures; I live in So. Calif. I think palm trees are such a part of our landscape we sometimes forget they are there. I think the funniest thing with them is when people put lights around them on Christmas

cute looking up entry :)

Thanks for sharing these wonderful images.

Two great minds think alike, that palm tree does remind me of fireworks! Love the quote as well.

Do drop by my blog as well, I await your comment.

Have a good weekend...we are expecting thunderstorm in Hong Kong. What a bummer!

Love the palm tree, because we don't have any here in Atlantic Canada! And I really like that first aquarium one too.

Being a former CA girl myself, I'm with you about the palm trees. They aren't my favorite - least favorite if anything.

However, I have to admit, that photo captured my attention. It's beautiful and yes, it looks like fireworks.

I enjoyed all the photos

I'm completely taken by the backlit pumpkin! It just makes me happy to see it. Third palm I've seen today! I like yours too.

That's a handsome palm tree, and I really like your other pictures. I am kind of partial to the fish in that it reminds me of the aquarium at the Oregon Coast, where I love to go. Thanks for stopping by!

Great photos, as usual, Carly!
Love that palm tree; I do like palm trees, I can't stop looking at them when I go to visit my daughter in LA. No palm trees here in VA.....

What a beautiful picture of this palm tree, it really invites to lay down and look up ! (and dream)

Where on earth did you find that cow kite? I love it!

All of these are wonderful, as always, but I think my favorites are the aquarium ones.

About that old building in mine -- I had the same thought about bringing home an "uninvited guest" along with the funeral home furniture.

I loved the palm tree shots and when I first got to your blog, I thought fireworks and then you said that, too. We didn't play this week. Your sidebar pictures are outstanding.

Me again, playing catch-up. The ray shot is wonderful, and you managed to take a trult interesting shot of that palm tree. I think the reason it reminds you of fireworks is that it's very geometric, like a starburst - or a burst of fireworks. Well done!
