Ellipsis Monday Photo Shoot #104: Photographer's Choice

"Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one paragraph, or a great group of them, can lure our sense of awareness."

-W. Eugene Smith

EMPS #104: Photographer's Choice! NOW CLOSED!
Okay photographers, it's all about you this week! It's all up to you! Tackle a new subject you have been anxious to try, or show off a subject you are an expert at! Let your imagination soar! It's PHOTOGRAPHER'S CHOICE this week, so have a ball!

Extra Credit: To take a little different approach to the Extra Credit portion of your assignments I want to try an experiment. A few weeks back we took on EMPS #101: On The Horizon. During that assignment I asked you to show me your "HORIZONS" and I left the interpretations up to you. Greg posted the photo you see above, taking a more metaphorical approach to things. I loved his submission because it encouraged the viewer to decide for themselves about what, or who might be at the top of the stairs. This week, for extra credit, please share in the comment thread below, what, or who you believe is waiting at the top of the stairs! If you want, you can do a similar photo on your own blog, and invite us to submit our answers, but first till us about Greg's photo based, on your own instinctual feeling when you view it!

**If you enjoy doing this exercise, we will pick it up when the Monday Photo Shoot resumes in January!

**PLEASE READ**
This Monday Photo Shoot assignment closes next Sunday evening at 9:00 PM ET. Please submit your entries by that time by uploading your photo to your blog, journal or website, and then comeback here with the link that goes back to your entry. The link you leave must be to an entry which is specific to this week's assignment. A general link to your site will not work, and HYPERLINKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. Also, please include a link in your entry to this photos shoot assignment so that other folks can find us and participate with us. The more the merrier... right? ;)

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

As of Monday, September 6th, I am taking some time off from blogging. It's been a difficult summer, and I am tired. When I have put up the "Gone Fishing" sign in the past, I felt better in about 2 weeks, or so, and then I was good to go, but this time around I feel a deeper sense of "burnout." I just need to relax for a while and kind of experience a quieter time with my creative process.

I will be back, officially, on Monday, January 3rd 2011, with the first Ellipsis Monday Photo Shoot of the New Year! So, while the Monday Photo Shoot will be on a temporary hiatus, the Round Robin Challenges and the Weekend Assignment will continue on with Karen pulling double duty on both! That's a lot to take on, so please continue to show her support by playing along.

I am going to continue working on my photography while I am away, and I am going to do some minor updating on Ellipsis, after all, the midterms are coming up, and can't miss the holidays, so I will post some election rants for your amusement and some holiday greetings for you guys, but that will be about it for a while. If you really, really miss me you can always follow me on TWITTER! You are more then invited to join me over there, or you can even keep in touch by email. Who knows? I might just drop by and say hello just because I know I will miss all of you as well! Sheesh... I am already missing you, and thinking of backing out, but deep down I know the time off is just what the doctor ordered. Know what I mean?

Anyway...

We have one more week together, and lets focus on that, shall we? If you would like me to drop you an email reminder for the for the first EMPS of the 2011, please leave your email address in the comment thread or feel free to drop me an email if you prefer to keep it confidential. I promise, I will not share it with anyone!!

:)

See you next week, with our final EMPS of 2010!

-Carly

PS: By the way, today is the 7th anniversary of my blogging on Ellipsis. Time goes by so fast! :)

Happy Blogaversary! Totally understand a need to take a break now and then. We'll miss you! I tried to find a billboard but realized that in my neck of the woods on the highways I travel most there are none! The few I saw on the freeway...it was under construction and no means for me to stop and shoot! Not sure if I'll be able to participate in this weeks or not...it's a busy week on the schedule!

P.S. There as no one at the top of the stairs. You have to climb them yourself to get to the horizon, casting yourself and your fate into the wide, mysterious ocean.

Have a good, relaxing swim, Carly, float away your cares, and then climb back up onto our beach!
