February Quince

"Groundhog found fog. New snows and blue toes. Fine and dandy for Valentine candy
Snow spittin; if you're not mitten-smitten, you'll be frostbitten! By jing-y feels spring-y."

Spring Whispering...

"The beautiful spring came; and when nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also."

~Harriet Ann Jacobs

Sick, or not, I had to go out and run a through errands yesterday. Blech. I would have rather just laid in bed and waited to die, but for whatever stupid reason, I am in... ahem... perfect health!? LOL. Oh well, it was what it was, if I had to be out in the world, I knew I had to bring at least the little red Kodak because, there is always catching the eye of this photographer, even if it is just out the office window!

Spring has stopped whispering "Let me in" and is now banging on the door!

So tell me, has spring, sprung, in your neck of the woods?

Blossoms Before Snow

"Courage is not the towering oak that sees storms come and go; it is the fragile blossom that opens in the snow."

~Alice M. Swaim

On Sunday I didn't see any color on the trees. It was a typical winter Sunday! But by Tuesday morning, there seemed to be the beginnings of spring everywhere! Well, not everywhere, but on enough trees that I actually felt myself smile as I passed one lovely tree after another. Purple, pink, and the most beautiful hot pink Quince blossoms are just beginning to light up the last cold days of winter. Today I bring you pink blossoms, but it snowed here in the Bay Area, so I am off in search of soft, white, opalescent snow! Wish me luck! Mount Hamilton... here I come!

Martha's A-Z Photo Challenge: "Q" Is For Quince Blossoms

"Faith sees a beautiful blossom in a bulb, a lovely garden in a seed, and a giant oak in an acorn."

-William Arthur Ward

I love spring, all the beautiful blossoms, and one of my very favorite is the Quince. :) The Conservatory of Flowers usually has a nice display of colorful blossoms in place toward the end of winter, which makes those drab, cold, gray days of winter at lot easier to take. I have never tried eating a quince, but I understand they are really delicious. Maybe that will be something new to try for 2009. We'll see. Anyway, my pick for "Q" is Quince Blossoms. :)

Have you played the A-Z Challenge yet? Drop by Martha's blog, Menagerie, for more information.
