The World's Best Kitty

"Love is stronger then death, though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries, it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger then death."

-Unknown

The Song Of Jellicles
*Click to read the full poem*

Jellicle cats are white and black,
Jellicle cats are of moderate size;
Jellicles jump like a jumping-jack
Jellicle cats have moonlit eyes.
They're quiet enough in the morning hours
They're quiet enough in the afternoon
Reserving their terpsichorean powers
To dance by the light of the Jellicle Moon

-T.S Eliot, Old Possum's Book Of Practical Cats

My little fella will slip away peacefully today. His appointment is scheduled for 11:30 am. We know the time is right. His quality of life has begun to diminish at an accelerated rate for the past week or so. His cancer was being so aggressive with him. It is time to let go. I loved him so deeply, so deeply that I didn't even know I could love something as much as I loved him. But I did. And Alan did too. And oddly enough, there is a huge comfort in the love we all shared. Elvis was an amazing cat, and my best friend. He will still be a big presence in my life. I will keep his heart shaped diabetes tag on my key chain, and his favorite little shirt on my desk. Alan will keep his Angel tag on a chain around his neck, so Elvis will always be close to his heart. Elvis is the one you don't get over. There are too many happy memories to forget what a gift he has been. It was an honor to be his mommy, and somehow I know he will be right by my side in spirit for as long as I need him. He always did take such good care of me.

Here Are Some Of Our Favorite Memories...

"When I am lost, or maybe gone astray, my guardian angel will show me the way."

-From Elvis's Angel Tag

Thank You Dr. B, Mary and Donna, for taking such good, kind, and loving care of my boy. You are family to us.

-Carly & Alan

Note: I am taking a few days off, but the Monday Photo Shoot will go on as planned. Be sure to join us next Monday for this week's Linking List, and an all new subject!

Oh my dear friend. My heart is breaking for you right now. I too lost one of my baby kitties this week. I had no idea that Elvis was so bad, and had gotten worse over the past week. I can hardly type through the tears running down my cheeks and the snot is literally pouring out of my nose.
I am so very sorry Carly. Please hug Alan and have Alan hug you today, from me. And before you tell Elvis goodbye please tell him to look for my Dink kitty when he gets to Summerland. They can chase squirrels together.
I love you.

hi Carly..
I think I dreaded this post as much as you. Elvis was the coolest of cats, second only to my Pookey before she died! There are some animals that are a step above all the others.. Elvis was one of those.

He will always be a "pumpkin" to me!

Carly,

I'm so sorry to hear about Elvis. I've been reading and hoping that things would change and that you wouldn't have to take this step, but it's the right one to take. There's no more loving gesture you can show him than to let go when the time is right and release him from suffering.

Elvis was so lucky to have parents as caring as you two have been. I'll be thinking of you both, and I'm here if you need to chat.

I too am sobbing for you over the loss of your most wonderful boy, Elvis. I do understand how you can love him so much. I have had my grandcat visiting for 6 weeks and I don't want to let him go home to hims dad.

I do know it's going to take some time for you to heal this ache, but if we could all fly over and give you a group hug, you know we would!!

Carly I'm so terribly sorry to hear about Elvis. As I read your loving tribute to him, I kept thinking how lost I'd be without my little guy, Jet. Elvis was one COOL CAT and he knew he was loved dearly. I hope my little guy can be half as cool as Elvis was.

This is one day that I would like to have put off forever. I will miss Elvis terribly. He was a wonderful little guy and I always loved to hear about his antics and adventures. I'm so sorry that the cancer became aggressive within the last week. You are truly loving kitty parents not to be willing to see him suffer more with it.

I'm sure that my Snickers and Kraft and Chester will be there to greet him.

BIG HUGS!!!

I am so very sorry to hear that Elvis is gone. Your pictures and stories made him part of all our lives, and we will miss him too.

I know the pain you're going through right now, and I know it won't ever go away completely. All I can do is send you a hug, and a prayer, and a reminder to dwell on the happiness he brought you.

Carly sweetie,
This entry makes my heart hurt.

You paid a beautiful tribute to him here and the photos made my heart smile almost as much as it hurt. I suppose you and alan are feeling something similar...only lots more intense.

You gave Elvis one terrific life. What a special guy to have such special parents.

Love and hugs,
Nancy

Just found your blog through Far Side of Fifty and now I have tears streaming down my face from reading about Elvis and all of his beloved pictures. What a dear friend he has been to you and your family. I just lost two of my favorite kittys this summer within a month of each other so I know the pain and loss you are feeling. Please find comfort in knowing he is in a better place now and free from pain. I'm sure you will meet again at the Rainbow's Bridge.
