The Never Ending Autumn

"If you want to forget all your other troubles, wear too tight shoes."

-The Houghton Line, November 1965

Yep, it's true. About 9 or 10 years ago, before I went nuts, I had an occasion to purchase a pair of really gorgeous, really trendy, really expensive shoes to wear to a special Christmas party. They were about 3 1/2 inches high, done in a lovely black satin, with a ribbon the wound up my delicious ankles. I say "delicious ankles," because every man I ever dated always told me, "Damn Carly, you have delicious ankles." WINK! Thanks guys. Tee Hee. Yes, the shoes were fabulous as shoes, but what they were in actuality was foot girdles.

I had suspected it for most of the evening as I twirled the dance floor with Alan, floating lightly on my feet, but I was disguising it well with a flirtatious little wince that was apparently seen as a girlish grin. I hadn't thought about those foot girdles in years, not until today, when I was considering that apparently autumn it still present in the trees. I have no idea why I went from thinking, "Isn't it strange that autumn has decided to stay?" To, "Damn, I remember those foot girdles."

Pacific Loon

It must be my age, but I seem to be gliding from stray thought to stray thought recently. Maybe it is the cold weather, or the splashes of an autumn that seem to be as reluctant to leave, as I am for them to go. I don't know. I am sure I will snap out of it soon. I spotted a pair of Pacific Loons today, also I have a cold coming on, so hopefully when it leaves, it will take this scattered feeling I have with it. I am hoping to be able to get out to visit two different parks next week, one is a bird sanctuary, which has me really excited, the other park is one of the newest parks, recently developed in Alameda County. There is nothing like a day with my camera to settle my soul. I love my camera, and a never ending autumn. I really like saying, "I spotted a couple loons today." :)

Sounds like random thoughts are one of the more pleasant symptoms of your coming down with something!
