A Photo A Day For 6 Months: Day 99~ 20th And Lexington

"You can't live to be a hundred if you give up all that makes you want to live to be a hundred."

~Woody Allen

It was a successful day. And odd. And completely nerve-racking. And... AWESOME. I did it, I found Woody Allen in San Francisco, and got the shot. Alan and I got to the location where they were shooting, the corner of 20th and Lexington, in the Mission district. There was only a small crowd of about 20, and that varied from time to time as folks either gave up, or simply lost interest. I wasn't about to do either. It all paid off a couple hours later when I got to see Woody Allen come down the red stairway, climb into his town car and leave for a lunch break.

It was worth it? It was the best 2 hours I have ever spent in San Francisco. I got to watch them film scenes. I got to people watch, and believe me that was interesting, and the weather couldn't have been better. Warm, but not hot. Just perfect. When we first turned onto Lexington, I felt a little nervous. Then as we parked around the corner and began to walk back to the location of the shooting, I started to babble, and sweat. Why was I getting so flummoxed out over this? Well, you know, it was that New York minute that I always wanted to have. Would it live up to how I imagined it being? Would I be disappointed should he fart in front of me? Would it be boring?

None of the above. It was exactly how I thought it would be. The only thing missing was a corned beef sandwich from the Carnegie Deli. But now I know... it wasn't really needed at all.

A Photo A Day For 6 Months: Day 88 ~ Humor And Then Some + Dancing With Woody Allen

The story so far...

In the beginning, the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of the people very angry, and been widely regarded as a bad move.

~Douglas Adams, The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe

WOOOO FUCKING HOOOO WOOT WOOT!

Sorry, as I write this, the Mars rover, Curiosity, has just landed. Now, do you think it will capture any little green men? Or will it be little grey men? I wonder if Marvin is home? Wouldn't it be a trip if he was? Speculate on that for a while. LOL.

Enough Already...

Okay, I suppose I should say upfront, my focus is all over the place at the moment. I am saddened, that once again, someone decided to kill people for attention but I am not going to dwell in the heartbreak right now. There is still a lot about what has happened we don't know. The details will reveal themselves soon enough, and when they do, we will be told we can't even try for a better world, because the rights of the NRA are more important than my right to not have to worry that the person beside me has an assault rifle.

Enough. Already!

A New York Moment... San Francisco Style.

Alan and I have a dream. We would like to hit Mega Millions Lottery, and move to New York City. LOL. Who doesn't, right? But understand, it's not the money, well maybe it is  a little, but it's also it's because we would love to live our lives, with the financial freedom to just enjoy each others company, without fear of state mandated furloughs, or having to save in case one or both of us should suffer a catastrophic illness one day. We both daydream about visiting every Starbucks in Manhattan. Buying season passes to all the Broadway shows. Going to the Carnegie Deli for a giant corned beef sandwich, followed by a little leaf peeping in Central Park. Oh, and one more thing, the thrill of possibly of looking up from our Carnegie Deli Cheesecake, to see Woody Allen, enjoying a sandwich of his own, just across the room.

That is my dream New York minute.

It's not super likely that will ever happen. Let's face it, the odds of actually hitting the lottery is pretty darn slim, although we came pretty close a couple weeks ago when we hit 4 out of six numbers, and were awarded the sum of $193.00. Ooh... so close and yet so far. LOL. But something amazingly awesome has happened recently in the City By The Bay, which could have been a close answer to my New York prayers,. Woody Allen decided to film his next movie right here. Right here in San Francisco. Awesome! I looked into perhaps being an extra in his film, I do have an extensive uncredited resume of acting rolls that could make me a great candidate. I have appeared in not just one, but two films about Major League Baseball. I starred alongside Danny Glover and Tony Danza in Angels In The Outfield, and Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in MoneyBall.

But, alas, when I visited the "Extras Wanted" page for Woody's film, the casting call was for a... Clean Cut, Upscale, Conservative, Well Dressed... . A man? Man! Sigh. I would play anything Woody asked me to play, but I don't think I could carry off Upscale Conservative... from Marin? A conservative from Marin? Does Woody know that there aren't any conservatives in Marin? LOL. Oh I kid the filmmaker... but seriously... CONSERVATIVES IN MARIN? I can't wait to see how THAT plays out on the big screen. LOL. Sigh. Shoot... when will I get the chance to be in a Woody Allen movie again?

Maybe after I hit the Mega Millions Lottery... and move to Manhattan.

LOL.

Typical.

LOL.

5'9 Beautiful Tall

Now, about the picture at the top of the post. Funny story... Alan and I had been in the car ALL DAY. We got up at the crack of 3 AM and drove to Reno, Nevada, which is about a 4 hour drive, if you obey all the laws. We had reservations at the Atlantis, and check in time was 4 PM. While we waited, and waited and finally decided to kill some time in Virginia City, which is about a 30 minute car ride up the hill. We got there, walked around, played some slot machines, but it was still 3 hours before check in. We started to get a bit fussy with each other, as familiarity and a 5 hour car ride will do to people, and we started nit-picking at each other. Pretty soon, we found ourselves in a ridiculous argument about whether or not, Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress was performed by the Hollies.

It was.

Finally, we just stopped talking all together. It was more fun to seeeeeth.

And then, there it was! That sign with the double meaning. LOL. We didn't have to say a word, with both LAUGHED OUT LOUD at the same time. Suddenly, NO MORE FUSSING. In that moment, the humor was much more important that any stupid argument. Our humor, is what keeps our marriage young and fresh, and I thank GOD for it every day.

:) I am still smiling.

And by the way, I am going to San Francisco on Tuesday to stalk... I mean... hope to see Woody Allen. He is going to be in the Marina district. It will be a New York Minute when his eyes meet mine, just with a bit of San Francisco flavor. Like Rice A Roni, our meeting will be a San Francisco treat. LOL.

Uh huh.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

"There are some people who want to throw their arms around you just because it's Christmas, and there are other people who want to strangle you just because it it's Christmas."

-Robert Lynd

Tee Hee. I was all set to sleep in yesterday, and then get up around 1:30 or so and make myself all pretty and girly before Alan got home. We had a date to have a nice turkey dinner, rent a Godzilla movie, pop some popcorn and just laugh ourselves silly. It was not to be. Sigh. He called me early in the afternoon and told me that he had to work a double shift, it seems they couldn't get by without him. LOL. Sigh. So, what to do? What to do? A Godzilla movie all by myself didn't seem like it would be much fun, but the weather outside was perfect for putting something spooky on to watch. Here it was June 2nd, and the temperature last evening was only 52 degrees! It felt downright December-ish. LOL. So, what would be my plan "B?"

I decided to do some early Christmas shopping online, and curl up with Elvis. I looked at advent calendars, and gourmet food. He and I have been discussing making this coming Christmas one our extravaganzas. Maybe get some new Christmas ornaments, and maybe order something yummy for dinner from Omaha Steaks. I have always wanted to order a cheesecake from the Carnegie Deli, in New York. Their cheesecakes look fabulous. Of course while I am there, I might as well order some yummy pastrami as well. :) Maybe make some special double-decker sandwiches for dinner on Christmas Eve. We always have great Christmas Eves. Usually we go out and make one last dash for stocking stuffers, then meet for lunch, this year we might go a different route. :) Time to start some new traditions I think.

I spent nearly the entire afternoon Christmas shopping, and by the time I was done, I was in the mood to make cookies. So that's what I did. I put Elvis on his favorite stool, put on the Peanuts Christmas album, and made Chocolate Chip Caramel, and Chocolate Chip Toffee cookies. We even wore out Christmas hats. It was a nice time of bonding with Elvis. He is getting better every day, but it has been a long road for him. I have been so pleased with him the last couple days, because he has actually eaten all of his meals without too much drama or coaxing. :) He is a fun cat around the holidays, he has never attacked the Christmas tree, and he gets excited like a little kid about opening his presents. I still have to do a bit of hemming on his pajamas, that Santa brought him last year. LOL. They are yellow with teddy bears on them. :)

So I guess we will have our turkey dinner later this evening. LOL. It's pretty wacky having 50 degree weather in June, but I am not complaining. It's comfy, the house smells like cookies, and Elvis is at my feet snoring away, wearing his Santa hat. What could be wrong with that? Besides, pretty soon it will officially be summer, and Christmas will be the last thing on my mind. So tell me, is there a holiday coming up that you are especially looking forward to this year?
