Dream Figures

"Photography, as you know, is not real at all. It is an illusion of reality with which we create our own private world."

-Arnold Newman

I really liked how these two mannequins looked. I spotted them in the window of a boutique, just off Union Square, last December. As you can see, basic black still rules! :) It wasn't an easy shot to take, because I was in the car at the time, and while I was the passenger, traffic was still making me a little bit nervous. Traffic around Union Square is always crazy around the holidays, but knowing it beforehand didn't make it much easier to take. Still, my camera sees things I seem to miss, when I am just viewing the world with my eyes. As I was looking at this photo earlier today, it struck me about all the faceless people I seem to encounter in my dreams. Sometimes I dream about friends from my past, but the weird thing is that while I know it's them, I almost never see their faces. I see their clothing, or sometimes an arm, a stomach, but almost never their faces. Hmmm... I think I will ask Sarah about that! Anyone care to hazard a guess?

So tell me, do you see the faces of the people you dream about? Do you dream in color? What's your favorite type of dream? Have you ever had a dream come true?

the only dreams i seem to remember are the most ridiculously weird and hormonally enhanced and because of these truths, they are very vivid and in living color....yes, once the nbc peacock made an appearance. like i said, they are ridiculously weird.
but my darling husband reassures me that i talk in my sleep ALL the time, so i imagine that i dream mundane boring, everyday things too.

I love dreams. I have lots of really amazing ones. I dream in color, but I have had dreams in B&W, too. I see faces, but sometimes, even though I know exactly who the person is, they don't look like how I dreamed them, at all. Sometimes I dream as though I am in my body, sometimes I dream as though I am watching a movie and I am in the movie. I like to try to remember my dreams, because some of them are pretty amazing. My favorite dreams? Dreams of flying. I haven't had a flight dream in a long time, but when I have them, I fly as though I am swimming. Love it. I have a dreams category on my blog, if you want to go and read them and see just what a nutbar I am! I wonder what "Sarah" would think of my crazy dreams! :-)

Faces: I think so, but not always the right ones. Sometimes the same person plays several roles before the dream is over - that was Sam Beckett, but now he's the murderer or the spy or my brother.

Color: think so. I remember one lucid dream when I deliberately "turned up" the color, like changing the saturation on a photo. I like flying dreams, adventure dreams, dreams that tel a story.
