November...

November, n. The eleventh twelfth of a weariness."

~Ambrose Bierce

November

No sun... no moon!
No morn... no noon...
No dawn...
No sky... no earthly view
No distance looking blue
No road... no street... no t'other side way...
No end to any Row...
No indications where the Crescents go...
No top any steeple...
No recognitions of familiar people...
No courtesies for showing 'em...
No knowing 'em!
No traveling at all... no locomotion,
No inkling of the way... no notion...
No Go... by land or ocean...
No mail... no post...
No news from any foreign coast...
No park... no ring... afternoon gentility...
No company... no nobility...
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member...
No shade, no shine, butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds,
November!

~Thomas Hood

It's early November, and the Bay Area is really just getting started on it's Autumn lights. But the trees should be absolutely stunning the next few weeks with Gold, Crimson, Green, Purple and Brown.

In other words... November!

On All Hallows Eve... A Look Back At October 2014

"The wind outside nested in each tree, prowled the sidewalks in invisible treads like unseen cats. Tom Skelton shivered. Anyone could see the wind was a special wind this night, and the darkness took on a special feel because it was All Hallows Eve. Everything seemed cut from soft black or velvet or gold or orange velvet. Smoke panted up out of a thousand chimneys like the plum of funeral parades. From kitchen windows drifted two pumpkin smells: gourds being cut, pies being baked."

~Ray Bradbury
The Halloween Tree

Well, the vacation is almost over, as is my favorite month, October. It was a busy month, filled with long drives, and leaf gathering, not to mention all the fun of San Francisco. I have mixed feelings today, as Halloween is my favorite holiday, and yet it comes at the very end of my favorite month!
That's a difficult dynamic.
Oh well. I am not that sad really, I know I romanticize it a bit, but really isn't October amazing?

Let's have a look back... Shall We?

Whew! 31 pages... that's a new record number of photographs for a single month! We had a lot of fun, and it was just what I needed to shake off all the gloominess 2014 had. We are still on vacation through Wednesday of next week, so there are a few more vacation photos to come.
Stay Tuned!

The October Costume Party

"In the off chance that I'm on fire in the shower, I bathe in a fireman's costume. I take precautions in ever situation, except in the rare instance that I'm ever trapped in love."

Fun A Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
Fisherman's Wharf

Last week, Alan and I visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. We have both been to other wax museums before, but never this particular one. I have to say, it was amazing! Most of the figures looked just like the celebrities, while others seemed just a slight bit off. But still, it was an amazing way to spend the afternoon! All the figures are open and we were allowed to touch, and take pictures with them, as long as we were "respectful." NO ASSAULTING THE WAX FIGURES!
We had a great time! And we actually got a bonus! With out paid admission came two free tickets to the newest Fisherman's Wharf attraction... The San Francisco Dungeon!

This gallery is only a sampling of my favorites, I have saved some back for some upcoming posts, so stay tuned! I wish I had some photos from our visit to the San Francisco Dungeon, but unfortunately they do not allow photos or videos, so I didn't get the chance. But I will just tell you, if you happen to live in the Bay Area, go see it at Fisherman's Wharf! It's great fun, a little cheesy, but there are some wonderful scares to be had as well! Great taste of San Francisco history!
